Hi All,

Just after some advice, i used to use cartons when i went out but its costing me a fortune so i have invested in some bottle warmers and powder dispensers.

I boil the kettle and fill the bottle and then put it in the bottle warmer. When my LO wants her feed i will then add the powder, but surely the water is now under 70 degrees so does this mean it wont kill off any bacteria in the powder??Im So Confused!!!! :nope:

Please help

Thanks

G xx

HI Hun,
It is very confusing but you are right water would be under 70 degrees hence the bacteria still alive (if there were any in the first place). Thats the reason why I use the cartons while out and about BUT I know so many people who make the feeds with warm water and their bubbas are perfectly fine.

This is one of those things that everyone does differently! The water does need to be above 70 degrees when mixed with the powder to kill any potential bacteria, but as babybliss pointed out many people use water below 70 and get on just fine. Personally I sometimes use cartons for convenience when i'm out but most of the time I pre make my bottles at home chill them down quickly, put them in a cool bag with ice packs and re heat in a jug of boiling water when i'm out. This way hopefully any bacteria would have been destroyed when I made the bottles and any breeding of bacteria should be kept at bay by keeping them nice and chilled!
Sorry to waffle on, hope this is of some help! x

im old school on this- with bailey i just took as many bottles as i needed for the day out with me already made up !... this time i have bought loads of the little containers from boots to put the powder in, and add to the water as brogan needs it. If we are out and about i usually just nip into a cafe and buy a cuppa and ask them to heat the bottle in boiling water.
