I keep mine in the steriliser even though it says they aren't sterile after you lift the lid. I cant see how taking them out though and putting them on the side keeps them more sterile than in an enviornment that is as clean as a steriliser with a clean lid on?!

Where do you store yours?!

This isn't the "correct" way, but I sterilise 3 bottles at a time, make the feeds, cool quickly and refridgerate. If Im going out and want to take a feed along I assemble the empty bottle and take a carton. I think the "correct" way is to sterilise as and when you need a bottle but my baby would freak out if made to wait!

Snap. I do exactly the same. Holly is not fond of waiting so this works best for all of us!!

your ment to do them 1 at a time as and when you need them. But yes you can do them all put them together and store on the side. Or you can premake and pop them all in the fridge x

I tend to sterilise what ever amount of bottles he has used (we seem to have about 9 bottles on the go lol!) then make them all up with only the water in and leave on the side until he wants a bottle, warm water and add formula, although I do premake and leave in the fridge for night time.

ive got the milton cold water steriliser so i just take 1 out when i need one. i aslong as you assemble the bottle so its air tight after its been sterilised you should be fine.

<3

I pre make my bottles once they have been sterilised so don't have this problem. Like a pp above said, if you assemble the bottle so its air tight it should stay sterile for longer.

Sorry i must sound thick with this question on the tin of sma gold it says make up when needed... i find that savannah cries blue murder having to wait for it to be made then cool down... is it really ok to pre make like at nite so when she wakes for her 3clock feed she dont have to wait so long sorry if i sound dumb..

yep, make as usual, fast cool, put in the back of the fridge, heat as needed. Dont leave out of the fridge once made though

wss^^ we do this for all Chloes bottles, and you dont sound thick:thumbup:

Thanks i keep telling OH it would be easier for me to do it the way u said as when im on my own i hate leaving Savannah to cry which makes it harder to prepare with an upset baby in ur arms wriggling about...
His argument is the tin says throw away if not eaten after 2 hours xx

we've pre made since Chloe was 3wks, only made them fresh for a week until I realised it was ok to pre make. its soooo much easier, there was a thread somewhere with a really good link about it, i'll see if I can find it.

You only throw away after 2 hours if its been left at room temperature, they can stay in the fridge for 24 hours. I make 12 hours worth at a time (ish)

https://www.fao.org/ag/agn/agns/files/PIF_Bottle_en.pdf it tells you on page 6 about pre making them. I know lots of women on here do this and have had no problem

Thank u so much i feel so useless sometimes lol ill shall show him this when he finshes work x

aww don't be silly you shouldn't feel useless at all! its definitely worth pre making even if you only do 2 or 3 at a time it will still save the stress when LO wants a bottle as soon as she wakes up lol

I've always made 6 at a time then popped them in the fridge. If i made them up one by one as the tin says he would be crying for ages, boil kettle, wait for it to cool down, add water then powder, shake, run bottle under tap to cool.. he would be having a fit! lol.

In the first few weeks, i'd always have one pre-made in the fridge, ready for next feed. He would have that and i'd make a fresh one, cool and put it in the fridge and so on. Then as he ate more I used to make up a 3 at a time then moved on to days worth, so 6 bottles. They would never stay there more than 20hrs really and my LO has never been ill :)

With regards to sterilised bottles, I read that they are not 'sterile' once the lid has been opened but they are still very clean and useable. I always stored mine in the steriliser anyways! I've stopped sterilising now though, it feels weird!!!!

Sorry if this seems like a dumb question...
So they say the bottles are no longer sterile once you open the lid of the sterilizer (my sterilizer doesn't say this, but this isn't the first time I've heard that)...but then how the heck are you going to use the bottles without opening the sterilizer to take them out?? What's the point of sterilizing if they become unsterilized the moment you open the lid?? Do you know what I mean? Sorry, but I find this incredibly confusing!

When i make the bottles up i just put the water in them and rewarm the water when i need them before adding the formula am i doing it wrong then?
