I have currently been sterlising bottles, adding boiling water, cooling and storing in fridge until feed time then warming water in bottle warmer before adding powder and feeding. Is it safer to sterlise, add boiled water and powder, cool and store at back of fridge?

I used to sterilise the bottles.

Boil the kettle, let it cool.

Add water to the bottles and leave on the side.

I premeasured powder in a powder dispenser and then when she was hungry I added the powder and warmed in microwave and voila.

Never put them in the fridge and she never got sick :)

If you way works, go with it.

As long as bottles are sterilised and the oz and milk are the same, baby will be fine :)

Thanku, just a bit worried as i have been reading about killing the bacteria in the powder with boiling water. So confusing!

i just do what the tub says lol but we are in diff countries but i'll tell you anyways
1.sterlize bottles
2 boil water
3 cool water to room temp
4. add powder and shake you can store in fridge up to 24 hours, i use with in 12 hours

I think that according to WHO guidlines it is safer to premake with the powder added and store at the back of the fridge for the exact reason you said. Formula powder isnt sterile, so adding it to boiled water that has cooled to no less that 70c (boil kettle and leave for 20-30 mins) kills off any bacteria the powder could contain. But I have also heard that lots of women add the powder to pre-boiled room temperature water and have been advised thats its ok to do this by HV, midwives and doctors etc, but I dont really know a 100% answer. It would be much easier to do it that way. xx

i add mine luke warm even though my package says room temp as it takes to long. hopefully thats ok
