advice needed!!!!

My little one is a week and half old and is fed on SMA. At the moment shes drinking 90 mls every 1 - 2 hours. Which to me seems like a lot. Also she has so much wind and it looks like its causing her a lot of discomfort. No amount of burping helps.

Anyways what do you guys think are the best for formula feeding SMA or Cow and Gate? I might try switching to see if it helps or even try the SMA soya brand.

I'm using SMA gold at the moment. My son had lots of wind at the beginning and it look ages to wind him, I gave him infracol to help bring up the wind which helped a lot.

I would ask your HV about the amount your little one is drinking, but I think if she wants it then she will need it.

Agreed. Babies dont really overfeed and if they do, then they usually throw up what they dont need, so you'd soon know

As for SMA or Cow and Gate, I dont use either of those, Evie is on Aptamil Stage 1 and altho she does have some wind issues, she never gets constipated

that seems like an awful lot for just a week old baby!

90 ml every 1 - 2 hours - so she is getting about 15 bottles a day? And taking 90mls everytime??

anna is 3wks and she is taking 90mls about every 2-3 hours. i was actually concerned that she may be taking too much - as sometimes she is wanting fed just an hour or so after a feed!

we are on aptamil first - no problems with wind - i burp her every 1oz- and she burps just simply by moving her from one knee to the other

Tom is 6 weeks and has been SMA Gold since he was 3 days old. We did have lots of wind issues at first but it has settled down over the last 2 weeks. I do use infacol before feeds during the day and changed his bottles from Tommee Tippee to Avent anti colic ones which I think has helped.

You could try a different formula if you want. I was going to when the wind was really bad but didn't get round to it and it has improved by itself as he's got a bit bigger.

for the wind I'd defo recommend infacol we couldnt live without it! As for SMA it never filled Niall up and there was lots of upchucking with it, aptamil didnt agree with him either for us we've settled on cow & gate & we moved upto hungry milk when he was 5ish weeks because he was talking 9oz every 3 hours and was still hungry.

90mls is about 4 oz's right??? exactly the same as Niall at that age - if baby wants it baby wants it i wouldn't waste time or energy worrying about how much little one is taking some babies are just hungry!

I'm pretty sure 90ml is 3oz...I think 1oz is 30ml.
