just out of curiosity as i have read so many threads about hungry baby, and yes i have in the past been rather outspoken about it:wacko: but i was wondering today about the people who give it to their lo's for the last bottle at night - does it really make them sleep longer?
Lana is naturally increasing her night sleeps, and has almost dropped the night feed but not quite, thing is i was wondering how often your los feed during the day? when they sleep longer at night does that mean they have missed a bottle?
im not meaning to cause a debate here about hungry milk btw x

I used to but don't any more. It worked for a while, but I found he would eat more when he woke and get hungrier quicker.....so instead of sleeping from 7-1, then 5, then til 7 with 2 feeds which he had done on 1st stage, he would wake at 4, then 6, and want food at both times. I tried giving him the HB at the 4am feed too and this just delayed the effect and so I ended up trying him on it full time, which blocked him up and made him poorly.

We're now on 1st stage again and I dream feed (I did this following his lead as he started to wake at midnight for a feed, then go through til 6-7. I then thought that it would be easier for all of us to try him on an 11pm dreamfeed and it works great for us all (apart from he's now starting his 4 months growth spurt so is waking at 5am :dohh:)

So, in short.....yes and no. Worth a go but just be aware that it might be counterproductive.

I use it, have done for ages after about a week of him being on it he was sleeping having only one feed in the night, then he started having like 9,10 bottles a day so i put him on hungry baby now he has 6 :) he looks happy :) x

I used to feed it all the time. There's such a tiny difference between that and first milk that I don't think one bottle of it a day is going to make much, if any, difference.

Yes I remember you not liking hungry baby & jumping down my throat when I asked a question about it! Anyway, we are trying it at night at the moment (Sapphira currently has 3 bottles at night) It makes her sleep longer until her first night feed but then she has the 2nd 2 closer together so she is still getting as much food as before, ive not seen any difference with length of times between feeds or the amount she has..she just seems to be a very hungry baby and will have between 40-45ozs per day, this has not changed that at all so not sure what we will try next, i cant put her on it all day as they dont sell it here so i have to get it sent over from uk, by the time you have paid postage its about 30 pounds per packet and takes up to a month for a parcel to get here, may change to it full time when we come back nbut not sure yet

lol. well both my kids have had/are having hungrier milk.

both mine had/have a bottle at

6am
11am
2pm
6pm
10pm

jack slept through at 6 weeks
Chloe at 5 weeks

With both i was advised to put them on hungrey milk and with chloe i have been advised to start weaning her at 4 months due to bad reflux.

With the 1st milk it didnt fill either of them up and both of them were wanting feeds every hour:wacko:

with the 2nd both were satisfied happy babies. Chloe is currently drinking 5 6oz bottles

duno if this helped or whether i just waffled about something entirely different.lol:flower:

Chloe is on HB all the time, at night she has her last feed at around 7.30 / 8.00, drinking a max of 180ml, and then she sleeps until about 2am and only takes 90ml. Again 90ml around 5am and that is until 8am ish when she returns to normal day feeds.

Im not sure if it would make much difference. If normal formula sustained her I think her pattern would pretty much be the same.

Nialls been on hungry baby since he was 5 weeks but he slept through from 3 weeks anyway so I couldn't tell you if it helped him sleep...i will say that he's been much more contented since he's been on it and doesn't guzzle like he's never been fed. He dropped his 5am feed a few weeks ago so now sleeps 8.30-7ish and now only takes 4/5 10oz bottles per day - there is no way he'd do this on stage 1 milk

i really appreciate your answering my thread in such a nice manner - admitted i was a tad harsh and no one knows our babies like us, i think i might have learnt a lesson here - thank you
