Who works on their feet all day?

I have noticed that it is becoming increasingly difficult to stay up for all 8 hrs a day. I get so much back pain and my legs are so sore after work, it's driving me nuts.

How much longer is realistically possible to work at such a job?
I am entering 3rd tri next week.
:hissy:

I am so scared of this problem as well... There is no 'sit down' time at my work either... except for lunch...

I'm also looking for future ideas on this as well

:headspin:

i also dont really get to sit down all day im an account manager on a beauty counter in house of fraser department store and we allways should be stood all day unless ur doing a bit of paperwork in the morning we get to sit down for a bit alltho i was told if ur pregnant u can get away with sitting more for health and saftey reasons but i allways feel it looks so unprofessional if ur just sat there lol but if were busy we dont get chance anyway, it does hurt ur legs and feet more :headspin: xxx

well I'm obviously not as far along as you but it's something I'm worried about and already feeling a bit. Like I'm feeling tired and a bit achey at the end of the day. I'm training to be a teacher and I spend all day on my feet with 4-6 year olds at the moment. We have new new little children in (january intake) and a lot of them seem to do a lot of crying and falling over so they often need picking up, brushing off, comforting...etc. I'm lucky that I only have another few weeks of it though. My last placement will be difficult because I will be 37 weeks by the end of it and I'm expected to do most if not all of the teaching = on your feet/bent over talking to a child on their desk 100% of the time!

having simliar problem i work in a nursery with lots of 2-3 year olds and my back ends up in agony at the end of the day. the children always want picking up and cuddling and we have all heard of the terrible twos well i have 12+ children every day showing me what its like xxx

Im on my feet all day with my job and I worked up until yesterday. Probably could have worked longer but there was a mix up with my dates and I didnt really have a choice.

I really have NO clue how you can do that Aqua!!! Props to you, for sure. TBH after walking around for a few hours my legs and back start to ache far too much for me. I can't believe you can stand up for 8hrs straight! When are you planning to take your maternity leave? Won't be much longer now

Yeah, it is really hard right now. My belly is growing each day, and my back gets worse with each day.

I think I will have to work until March 1st. I really need the money :(.
And since I was at universtity for most of last year being a teaching assistant I am not eligible to receive E.I. which sucks majorly, so i have to work part time as long as I physically can.

Totally sympathise with anyone who has to be on their feet all day. I'm a nurse in a busy orthopeadic ward and only get a 20 min and 30 min break out of 8hrs. I get to the point where I'm dragging my feet cause I just can't keep up with the pace anymore. I do a lot of bending, pushing, pulling etc and it's bad enough now, what's it gonna be like when I'm in my 3rd Tri.

I think we all just have to take it as easy as we can, and if we need to sit down and take extra little breaks compared to others then we have to, and if people have a problem with that then I'll be telling them where to go!!!!!!

Take it easy everyone. xxx

i worked in the kiosk at tesco up until my due date, how i managed it i have no idea

I work in Morrisons in the Administration department, however my job is to walk around litterally all day and check all prices that are shown in front of the product are correct (and there :p) which means scanning in excess of 1000 products and running up and down stairs to get new labels etc. They say I can sit down when I need to but being one person short already on my job it just isn't possible :( Well as I say... it can only get worse, but then I have a 9 month break in the mid of april <3

As a nurse i work 12.5 hour shifts so it was very tiring ! i went on maternity leave at 34 weeks.

I well don't want to leave but I think with college + exams + baby it's gona be a bit much!
Yeh I usually go and have a little sit down mid-morning and mid-afternoon
Not sure what it's gona be like when I get further on
Plus there's quite a few older customers who come to my department and I'm kinda expecting some not-so-nice remarks and a few nasty looks.
But ah well!!

And how are u doing on account cards?! lol

Aqua I work all day on my feet and sometimes I barely will get a lunch break. So I talked to my doc last time cause my back hips and feet were starting to bother and she gave me a doc note to give to work to allow me to work a 32hr week instead and it has been much easier! Maybe that could be an option for you...?

I don't do full 40 hrs at work anymore. 25-30, and it is still pretty tough. but hey, end of february is just around the corner.
