To be heavily pregnant during the middle of a VERY HOT Australia spring/summer? Its about 1 billion degrees and very humid where I am and I'm not coping! I toss and turn everynight coz I'm so hot. :growlmad:

If one person says to me "How are you coping with the heat?" or "Just wait, its only spring, its going to get hotter yet!" I swear I will just boil over with rage and I may just melt into a little puddle on the ground!!! :growlmad:

Ice blocks are my new best friend, in fact I think I'll go have another one :happydance:

Rant over

 you poor thing, I'm in NZ and starting to struggle so I feel for you :flower:

I'm munching away on ice cubes and drinking my body weight in water every day - it helps but also means I pee every 5 mins :dohh:

Is your house nice and cool or does it heat up? Have you got access to a pool at all?

I wish I could say I feel sorry for you.. lol... I'm in the UK currently wrapped up in a blanket with a mug of hot coffee.. and the heating on full blast.. Its freezing here!!

Although I do remember the summer (even though its not that hot here) it wasn't nice.. I ate ice lollies by the box!

Have a hot shower, then when you get out, you'll feel cold! :hugs:

Our house is actually not too bad. We have air con in the lounge room. DH has offered to move our bed to the lounge room so that I can sleep under the cool air lol

Its just being out and about where I really start to overheat. I went to the shops earlier this morning and it was sooooo busy (who would have thought EVERYONE would be Christmas shopping today!?) and it was sooooo hot and horrible lol

We live in a townhouse where we all have access to a shared pool. I might have to get some maternity swimmers... Our neighbours kids are always in the pool and might get a shock though, I bet they wouldnt have thought they'd have the share the pool with a whale

Not long to go for you now... :happydance:

LOL I said to DH that for our next baby we will aim to fall pregnant this time of year, that means it will be autumn/winter for the last part of my pregnancy. That will be lovely :cloud9:

You've got my full and total sympathy. I'm also in Australia, and this past week has been a killer. When in our house, I close all the blinds, lock the doors and walk around in my panties. And put on the aircon, of course. If anybody knocks, I just don't answer, or if I know them, I ask them to wait a bit so I can get dressed and answer the door.
And then I keep on getting these 'hot flushes', where I feel like I'm burning up in my neck and face. Try this: Put on that air con, or a fan, and spray yourself with a bit of water from a spray can while lying down. Make some ice water in a bucket, dip and wring out a facecloth/washer, and put it on your wrists, back of your knees, throat, anywhere where the veins are close to the skin, and then cool down the washer again and repeat. Sounds desperate, hey... But I am.
Thursday I even went for a swim in a bikini top and shorts in the public swimming pool, and it was BEAUTIFUL and AMAZING. Some teenage boys were giggling away, but I couldn't care less. I actually felt like I was doing them a favour, making them see just what those penises of theirs can cause, and that it ain't pretty! (hehe)To feel so cool and weightless! Getting out was awful though since gravity returned. Just make sure to shower afterwards and put on dry clothes to prevent thrush/candida.
Luckily today is a cool-ish day, I can actually wear some clothes. ;).
So you see, there are people who know how you feel and have sympathy!!!!!

You poor thing! Where in Austalia are you? My house also resembles a cave at the minute, all the blinds are closed. It's dark but working nicely to keep the house cool. I've been in a loose summer nightie since about 2:30 this afternoon

Thanks for your sympathy and keeping cool ideas. I think you did those teenage boys a big favour!

Aww hon, keep the house a cave and def use that pool!

Hopefully the aircon will help, have you tried setting it really low and leaving the door open so it filters into your room over night?

I know, I cannot believe i've only got 3 weeks left and then I'll have to deal with a baby, I have no idea about babies .... how the hell will I cope?

We've just been using the fan in our room at the minute but as it gets hotter I think I'll leave the air con on over night.

I know, I'm wondering the sane thing, how will I cope? What will I do? Lol but I'm soooo excited and getting really impatient to meet him! 3 weeks will fly by Hun, and you'll have your bub for Chrissy! :happydance:

I feel for you. I was uncomfortable here in the summer and I was only 10 weeks pregnant then! We are I suppose lucky here in UK as its freezing today and we are in for a very cold winter too! x

Enjoy it hun, the cold weather sounds lovely xx

I feel so much for you, just in the UK, where it is about 4 degrees, everyone is freezing and I will be sat in a vest top because once the hot flushes start I might as well have steam coming out of my ears. Dont know how I would of cope being this far along in summer!!!

can we swap for a day? its soooo cold in scotland i would love to spend just one day in the heat but no more than that no way i can cope with the hot weather!

I'm with you!! I'm in Brissie and it sure is getting warm!

We've a pool & aircon so I am desperately hoping that they will get me through the summer. I like the fact though that maternity clothing is so much easier in the summer....all you need are shorts, a singlet (tank top) & thongs (flip flops)....don't have to worry about multiple layers etc

Have to admit though there is a lot of strutting around the house in swimmers & sarongs going on.....and gallons of water :)

Hope you cope ok mrs_park!!

I'm soooo jealous of all of you girls in the UK! I would love to be cold right now! Lol

Schooks, All I can say is, thank goodness for maxi dresses! I live in them! Plus they make me feel pretty. Hope your coping up there in Brissy! Are you close to the beach? :flower:

I'm in NZ and it's not too bad here yet, but I find being pregnant makes it seem so much hotter than it actually is. All afternoon and night I'm sweating like crazy, barely any clothes on and with the fan going, and poor OH is shivering in the corner lol!

My DH is enjoying it. Normally it's him loving the air con whilst I'm shivering under a blanket. So now we both just enjoy the air con :haha:

What's it like in NZ? It's been about 30 degrees where I an, but being preggers makes it feel 35-40!

I'm about 45 mins from the beach, and will be getting down to visit my sis this weekend, although with the pool I do tend to be a bit lazy :)

Yeah Maxi dresses are great...and they are everywhere this season!!

My DH & DSD thinks it is hilarious me sitting there fanning my belly!! I swear all the heat seems to be coming from there so it is so nice to have it exposed.

I also was the one wanting the air con off, so they love the fact they can have it blaring and not have me nagging them to turn it off!!
