Dd is 13.5 months now, only nurses to fall asleep or for comfort. We had such a hard time at the beginning, major latch issues, thrush, aND I almost gave up, so I am proud of myself for making it this far, and I see no need to stop.

So why does everyone feel they need to comment on how kind we will breastfeed for? Oh, she'll still be on your boob in school, you are not planning on going past two right? Because that's weird, etc..

Why do they think it's their business?

I'm lucky that I rarely got comments like this but when I did I felt so annoyed. Especially when people tried to tell me shed sleep better if I stopped. Erm I wasn't asking you for help getting her to sleep longer, I just happened to yawn at work!!

I think people just don't knopw how to handle what they don't feel familiar with. Just take heart that you are making bf past 1yr more normal by allowing people to see it, so the next woman may not get quite as many negative comments.

Opinionated people always seem to think you want their advice. Unfortunately there a lot of judgmental people out there too. Sorry you seem to have so many around you!

I'm only 10 weeks into BF and already being told I can stop anytime now as others that people know have stopped now.... Ummmm I didn't say I was stopping? And when asked how long he will be BF for (because everyone asking is at our house always feeding my baby), I say we plan at least till 1 year and I've gotten gasps, looks of disgust etc... So disheartening.

Good luck and well done to you!

Exactly! WOrk is terrible about it. They always make comments about me yawning, they now call weaning the 'w word' and make me feel like it's my fault and my choice that I don't sleep through the night because she wakes to nurse.

Have a read of the comments section of a newspaper online sometime and it will quickly become obvious that not having anything pleasant, informed, relevant or even coherent to say apparently does not stop anybody from sticking their oar in! :haha:

Hahahaha so true!
