I have been going to a fertility clinic for 4 months now. Even though my doctors say everything is normal, I have noticed that my antral follicle count is very low. It ranges between 9-11. Concerned, I asked one of the doctors if my AMH was tested. He said no and that they don't test anyone who goes to the clinic because he said there isn't enough scientific proof that it means anything. He said it's unproven.

Is this weird? Should I get a second opinion? Is there anyone else who has been told this? Is it true?

I have NTNP for over 2 years and TTC for over a year now. I'm convinced that there's something wrong.

Is this in the UK? on the NHS? if so it's because the NHS don't 'support' amh, I think things have to have been around years for the nhs to take it on board :nope:

Regardless, the amh test is still relatively new, in terms on what the results mean and what is perceived as 'normal' v's not.

It's possible your Dr thinks your antral follicle count has told him all he needs to know.......and tbh it has to an extent. With 9-11 follicles you will likely not have a disatrously low amh and visibly you have some follicles to work with. As such paying and testing to see an average or good result probably wouldn't change his treatment recommendation IYSWIM?

If you proceed to IVF it might be useful to understand your amh to see how well you might respond to meds and the dose required. Eg i have low amh, but oddly lots of follicles, yet I still need lots of meds to get my ovaries to grow them.
