I am due my 2nd baby on the 7th June and have been asked if I would like to have a vaginal birth or another c-section. A bit of history….

.. my dd was a week late, my waters broke and she had done a bowel movement, I had no contractions till I was induced 3 hrs after waters breaking, dd was back to back and after 27 hours I was only 4cm so was taken to theatre for a emergency c-section. DD was 8lb 8oz (not a massive baby but midwife said a big baby for the size of me)..

Well I am currently 25 weeks with DS and am starting to think about birth ect, I have to se the specialist at 36 weeks and discuss with them further my decision and see the size of the baby etc. I am really struggling to make a decision as purly on a selfish note if I have the section I know the baby will be here at 39 week so the 1st June. But also I know that recovery is longer and I will have a 20 month old and a new baby to look after but also I know if I have the section I can arrange child care for DD whilst I am in hospital where as if I have natural they don’t like to induce you at my hosp after a sections as it can put more pressure on your scar and then I could happen at anytime and will be rushing around and worried about her and then there is always the possibility that I have to have another emcs any way…

Hi there - I obviously can't tell you what to do, but I sympathise.
I've decided that when I have my next I'll be going for an elective section (after an emc last time). I feel that this will be more controlled than last time and the risks are minimal, it will also help me to get childcare sorted for my LO both while in hospital and hopefully people to help out with LO when I come home.

Whatever you choose, it'll be right for you. Good luck

hey :) sympathise with you as i am in the same situation! xx

Im in the same situation after two horrific vaginal births resulting in episiotomies, which for some reason people dont seem to think are that bad but for me the recovery was awful and so painful!

I bet we are all in the same boat thinking "if I try for a vaginal and it goes wrong and ends up in an emergency C sec, I will kick myself for not knowing better and electing a C sec to start with!" but then also thinking " If I elect a C section, what would a vaginal birth have been like? Could I have done it?"...

AHHHHHH! ](*,)

My theory... i think i will leave it till 36 weeks and then make my decision but also scared of what people my say if i tell them i have chosen to have an elective section.. people cant always keep there opinions to themselves sometimes as when i had my DD ok i was only in labour for 27 hours, but knowing that she had done a bowel movement and that is a sign off stress was quite worrying so they could not leave me any longer as it is hareful to the child.. i hasd no option to have the emcs as after already loosing a baby i would have done anything to make sure she arrived in to the world safe and well.. my so called friend was in slow labour for 55hrs with her DD and had her naturally started to tell all our mutual friends that i had taken the easy way out and i didnt know what labour felt like etc.... i was like hang on am min i was in pain and also stressed about being hooked up to a monitor constantly to make sure that baby was fine... you go through that you bitch!!!

I have a magazine here saying that a C section is a major operation and is " in no way the easy way out "!
