I thought we had picked a very traditional name that doesn't really get the spelling altered to look different and so should be fairly easy for everyone to get right.

But I've just been looking through his birthday cards and tags for his scrapbook and we've had all sorts of spellings.

Jo, Joe, Joeseph, Josheph, Joesph and even one Joseif.

I'm used to people getting my name wrong but I was surprised we had so many shortened versions and spelling mistakes on a name I thought everyone would get right.

He was named after my grandad and even my Aunt wrote Josheph on her gift tag and he's named after her Dad so she ought to know how we spell it.

Does this happen to anyone elses names when you thought the spelling would be obvious to everyone.

Hannah gets Hanna and Anna and Ana all the time

i dont have kiddies myself yet but my name is amy and i get it spelt loads of diff ways by family! you would of thought that after 19 years they would get it wouldnt you? lol ive had aimee, ami, aime, amey and a few others! its only 3 letters to remembers gees hehe x

I get it quite alot, My name is Donna.
I get alot of Donner, Dona, Doner... It annoys me alot!

I'm Kathryn but Im constantly getting called Katheryn, Katherine - even the C variations. God damnit! Lol.

I'm Catherine, and always getting the 'k' versions! (which I secretly think are a little nicer!)

I'm Kara and i get Cara and Carla a lot

I don't think Sophie has hers changed much

but Sidney is often Sydney in cards which i kinda expected anyways. It annoys me when its family though!

I dont know why, I thought Joseph was spelt one way . :shrug:My daughter Sofia gets lots of different spellings, weve had Sophie, Sophia, Sofie, and my favourite - Sofa!!. xx

Sofa! :haha: That's funny but terrible as well, who would think that you'd spell her name Sofa?

I should be used to this with my own name, I've had Jody, Jodie, Jodi, Jode, and even a Jhody and a Jodhi but I honestly thought Joseph was a very easy and straightforward name.

I'd have said the same about Donna though and Amy so perhaps it just goes to show that no matter what name you have or choose to give to your little one there's always somebody there to get it wrong.

I'm Ellie and i get Elly, Elliy, Elli, Eli, even Ella! Ive even at worst had Helen :dohh: Its just one of those things sugar, people are a bit, um, silly! x
