Probably the most embarrassing yet hilarious of all the quirks so far. He humps his toys, cushions, a bean bag at my friend's house :dohh: And I'm not just talking a little thrust, I'm talking full on down on all fours dry humping

Is it a boy thing? Please tell me I'm not alone

Sorry, no idea! That really made me laugh though!

Oliver started this at the same age. It drove me crazy - he'd even get all hot & sweaty sometimes too! Urggh! He stopped it after a few months and only does it now & then now. .No idea why they do it, but it is just another of those phases x x

Ok not a boy thing! Molly does this too. She gests all hot and sweaty and there's no distracting her :dohh:

 boy has never done this but I know of lots of children who have. Just normal I think!

My little boy has done this since about 8 months! he does it to everything, mattresses. if he's lying on my legs on the sofa,on cuchions, the floor everything! Its really funny. I just see it as him getting comfy.... but I dunno.. he'll grow out of it eventually x

 Charlie did that for a couple of weeks at one point (prob around the same age as your LO) It was pretty embaressing one time when my old Aunt had him on her knee!! It passes

I find that funny but concerning! My sons 2 an has not done anything like that. Some doctors say they like the feeling of it just like adults do. But my concern would be if any one has been unapproprate with him.

Actually my Mum (who is a social worker) said that a few years ago this behaviour might have been questioned!

However I can confirm with 1000000% certainty that no one has acted at all inappropriately towards or around him - he has only ever been alone with myself, his father and my parents, with no overnight stays etc. I think it's normal - just a funny phase.

Thanks for all the reassurance ladies - must admit it's pretty funny to watch if not a little strange!

Hahaha! Awww god love him, that's too cute.

Amber has humped things before but only a couple of times that I can remember. He might just like the action of his movements!

Ha ha - I see he is in the early stages of becoming a ladies man, the little cutie :-)

Madeline doesn't hump - but she has developed quite a provocative dance, involving full on hip swinging, a bit of bump and grinding and some Beyonce-esque booty jiggling. We were away this weekend and while out having lunch she "performed" for a 70-odd year old bloke. He was sitting there, reading his paper, minding his own business, when he was suddenly accosted by a bum wiggling 16-month old. I don't know who was more embarrassed, him or me!

She's got the "Moves like Jagger" alright.

That's different though Jayne - Madeline's dance is learned behaviour - don't deny it

Bless her... need to see more video evidence of this please! xx

I don't know but , I know my friend say her little boy did this though

Actually, my eldest daughter too. I was kind of concerned, but talked to her pediatrician about it...totally OK and normal! Whew! It was embarassing though...that's what she did to go to sleep! Apparently, it is just comforting to them, and there is nothing sexual about it...they don't think about 'sex' or anything!

Lol, no you're not alone! My dd does this quite often too, she does it to the door frame, she grabs hold of it and gyrating, squatting and thrusting! x

Hahhahahahahaha! Brilliant! What strange children we all have...

:dohh:

Evie does this too sometimes!

It's not a regular thing but she seems to do it more when her nappy is off lol

Maybe Oli's is too...what's he seen you and OH up to? :haha:

My LO does it too. It is how he goes to sleep at night, rolls onto front, bum in the air, and humps his mattress!! Funny, and thankfully no one else is around to see. :haha:

I personally think it is because he used to kick so much when he was a baby lying on his back, that was how he showed he was happy, but once he is on his front he can't kick so this is his "face-down-kicking". Probably not true at all, but makes me feel better about it!! :haha:

Been about 5 months now and is definitely decreasing in frequency, if that helps.
