Hi, Ive just got a letter from my doctors saying the doctor has looked at my blood test results and has asked me to have them done again, these were the antenatal ones i had at about 10 weeks for hiv, hepatitis, syphilis, ummm iron and stuff and the one that goes with the nuchal scan. Anyone have a clue why i would need to have them done again? i have the nuchal scan on wednesday but being bank holiday i can't find out why until doctors open on Tuesday and i'm a bit concerned now.

Thankyou

Not sure if you're in the UK or not, but I would imagine medical care across the globe experiences similar blunders.

There's no used worrying yourself about this one. It could be anything from them getting lost, the courier not arriving in time, to dopey doris getting who's blood is who's mixed up.

When you're sat in the waiting room waiting for the next lot to be taken... just hold up your thumb and forefinger... close one eye... line them up... and SQUISH the buggers' heads ;D

Thanks for reply, yes i'm in the uk. yeah i though that they could have got lost but it says the doctor has looked at the results and wants tests repeated which made me think there was a problem you see

Oh phooey. So much for my reading abilities ;)

Good news is - you should still go ahead and squish their heads for writing an ambiguous letter which has caused you to worry.

Do you feel like you could be low on iron?

I guess there's no real answer to this one, other than speaking to the doc on Tues and having them redone :/

I'm not particularly looking forward to these ones, as I had several blood transfusions in early 1998 (just before a change to blood screening procedures) but the way I look at it is - I have no reason to expect anything bad, so full steam ahead!

Hope you feel better and things go well after speaking with the doc x

sometimes they cant get a reading so have to do another x

it could be that the iron one needs redone, it might be that one of the various different things that make up the FBC is perhaps borderline and needs redone. The other ones i dont think i have ever seen anyone need them repeated as its a negative or a positive results you only get, so the iron one is the only one i could think of. Try not to worry, easier said that done i know xx
