Hiya,

My husband has recently been discharged from the army after 10 years of service and he is now on Income based JSA. There are people that have been telling me I should be able to claim Income Support aswell, as I am looking after my son I don't have to be available to work, or the government sees me as not able to work because someone has to look after our son (that's what I've been told anyway). Is this true??? Does anyone know whether I would be able to get it??
We could really do with some extra money if we could get it, so any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

You could apply for some work and then your husband while he is off on JSA could look after the littleun, that will help with the pennies a bit. :flower:

Yeah, thought about that... but it's not really a great time atm as we're looking at moving.... waiting for a council house. But the council we applied to ages ago (and they accepted us) have basically screwed us over and aren't willing to help us. Anyways, we've finally found people that can help us and it looks like we might be moving soon, so it's a bit hard....

Don't get me wrong, I'm not one for sponging off the government or staying on benefits when we don't need to, and neither is my OH.

God, I didn't think that for a second, was just an idea a bit of an alternative to consider.

Ok, don't worry, wasn't having a dig or anything, just wanted to make sure people in general don't think I'm just trying to rake in as much as I can without doing anything myself. :flower:

People do manage to work and move at the same time? Even if it's just a few hours it would help you out?

what I meant was that there's not much point to get a job if it's only gonna be for a week, or 2. We could potentially get a house at any point now.... Anyways, I rang up about the income support and they said you can only get it if you're a lone parent or get carers allowance.
