I gave birth to my beautiful boy 3 days ago at the gestational age of 32+2.

He is doing really well, he is taking my milk like a little champion.

This may be a silly question, but will he always be a small person? Or can he grow to a normal healthy baby size and then carry on from there?

I hope my baby will grow into a strong boy. Im worried.

Hiya and huge conrats on birth of your lil man :) I think if there's no medical reason why your lil man would be small there shouldnt be any reason why he wouldn't catch up. Was his weight inkeeping with his gestation? Ella was 3lbs 4oz at 35weeks so was tiny and as 20 months is only just around the 19lb mark but length wise she's the height of a 20 month old and as she's so slim looks really tall lol.

I think most bubbas do tend to catch up if not by 2 then by the age of 6/7 as long as there is no medical reason.

Congrats again on your lil one and hope your journey through NICU does not hold too many bumps along the way xx

Thank you :) :hugs:

He was born weighing 4.6lbs so he is a decent size for a premmie.

Wow what a brilliant weight for that gestation. How is he doing and have they given you any indication how long his stay in NICU will be? xx

They said he is doing amazing, he drinks my milk and already onto 8mil of it... he breast fed today a bit too from me so he is quite strong..

They said it all depends, i have been told he could go home at 35 weeks if he keeps going the way he is. I am trying not to get my hopes up though. :(

Wow everything sounds promising. Hope your LO continues to do well, what a superstar :)

Nineenas right - it all depends on lots of factors, when they start feeding, how much, birth weights, medical issues and even simply genes.

Our Alex is in a mix of 12-18 & 18-24 months. She's fairly tall considering me and DH aren't. In time she'll pick up - I'm a 29 Weeker, so yeah, I promise you I caught up

I think for the most part they do catch up, eventually. My LO is 15 months and almost 20lbs, born at 31.4weeks and 3lbs 8.9oz.
There's tons of factors, his eating habits, health conditions, etc.
Congrats on your LO, glad to hear he's doing well! :flow:

my LO was born at 35 weeks weighing 4lb14 id say she now looks her age, shes in 6-9 or 9-12 clothes and now at 11months she weighs 18lb :)

ooh congratulations! He`s quite handsome.

Of course he'll catch up - the earlier a preemie was, the longer it takes. But they do eventually catch up.

My son was born 2nd percentile. At 18 months corrected he`s about 5-10 now. Doctors said it will be a good 5-7 YEARS before he`s caught up. But he will :flower:

my baby girl was born at 35 weeks an was 3,5 lbs she is now 6 months and 14 pounds, has two teeth and more coming :)

it will get better :)

Don't be worried. My first one was teeny and dropped off the bottom of the growth chart in hospital his weight gain was that poor, he crawled up to the 2nd by 3 months and now at 18 months he is between the 50-75th corrected and just under the 50th actual which is pretty respectable. Like the others say they do catch up.
