Will my cycle fall in place after a mc.

So after losing poppy in April my cycle seemed to click back in quite quickly, 29 days. Now I am having a mc at 6 weeks and I'm just so worried about when my cycle will resume. I was so happy to be pregnant again obviously gutted about this. So a few questions.

1 - Do I have to wait til I get another period to start counting CD1 again or do I count the first day of this mc as CD1.

2 - Will ovulating be all out the window or will it fall back into the schedule e.g. cd14? If the former does it take ages to fall back into place again?

3 - Is it best to wait a cycle or try again straight away, as i'm not far along anyway.

I just feel i've taken 1 foot forward and 2 back. I'm 38 and my biological clock is ticking and I just want to get pregnant again sooner rather than later.

(sorry my last ticker is still there I just can't bring myself to delete it yet!)

Hi Natnee,

I'm so sorry for your loss. I just lost my first pregnancy in September at just shy of 7 weeks. I'm not an expert (thank goodness!), but since we're kind of in the same boat and I'm a few weeks ahead of you post-m/c, I figured I'd offer my opinion.

1. My doctor told me to count the first day of full m/c bleed as CD1. So if you're already bleeding, CD1 has past.

2. For me, I just ovulated the other day on CD21, so about a week late. I didn't track my betas to 0, though, so I don't exactly know when they hit zero. From what I understand, your cycle doesn't actually re-start until the HCG is out of your system and your body is no longer "pregnant."

3. My doctor recommended waiting until I got a regular period to try again, but that she "wouldn't scold" me if I got pregnant immediately. She didn't give me any reason to believe that it would be harmful. Waiting just makes it easier to date the next pregnancy, and also to make sure that any pregnancy tissue that might have been left behind after the m/c is gone for sure. But DH and I ignored medical advice (shhhh! don't tell!) and are actively trying again before my period.

I hope that helps :)

I saw a midwife on Friday and had bloods taken to check my levels, just waiting to hear back from her about that. Until I hear her say my levels are too low to still be pregnant, still have a tiny smidgen of hope that the bleeding wasn't a mc, but I doubt it. I was also advised to wait a cycle, but we'll see.
