I currently B/F my LO, trouble is after his feed e.g 10 - 15 mins on one boob he tends to nod off .... so I sit him up to wind him, and alot of the time he wont wind properly, I then put him back on the breast to 'finish off' and try to wind again when he finishes but then it either wakes him fully or he wont (again)

..so then I put him down to sleep and he wakes 15 mins later burping and spluttering with wind (not to mention the farting!) ... anyone else have this problem and any ideas?

xxx

With newborns it can take a long time to wind them, After you feed hold him upright and wind him for longer.

I do the whole sitting him on my knee with my hand under his chin winding and sometimes on my shoulder .... how long is 'longer' ???

lol... I dont know... how long do you wind? It can take awhile, obviously if he is waking up with wind you may need to try a bit more???

Ha ha yep... exactly the same as Harry!

I'll BF him on one boob, and he stuffs himself until he's asleep and floppy when I try to sit him up to burp him. I sit patting his back, tilting him back and forth, putting him on my shoulder etc... if I get one burp i'm happy - I usually don't get more than that. He isn't really a burpy baby... but definitely a farty one! He'll grunt and wriggle about for half an hour and then the farts and poo explosions start! So now, I not only concentrate on burping him, but also "farting" him too! When he's grunty and wriggly i'll lie him down flat on my lap and bicycle his legs and he almost explodes with farts! My main concern now is how i've developed quite a bizarre satisfaction with the number of farts I can get out of him at any one time! When he's really bad with his wind, i've given him Infacol which has helped slightly.

The Health Visitor told me that BF babies generally aren't burpy, but that they can do lots of farts, sometimes in place of poos and that because breast milk is so easily digested, quite often there's no waste at all, and rather than your baby doing a poo, he'll just fart instead!

Ha ha - yeah, you should - it's amazing what comes out! Harry seems to get himself all worked up into a frenzy with his farts... then we do bicycling... then there's fart/poo explosion and then it's as if we've flicked a switch because he's so silent and happy! God it's so sad that I get satisfaction from such things!

omg leylas exactly the same with her pumps lol, its impossible to wind her, i have to give her to paul to wind her cos i can never get any lol...she does the wriggly cry thing aswell just before a massive poo lmao, gna try the bicycle technique haha
