I'm due Dec 30th so I'm really interested in hearing/seeing what you ladies have bought for previous LOs that were winter babies. I had a JJ Cole bundle me that went over the car seat (DD was a September baby so I needed that) but wasn't nuts about it. We normally bundled her regardless but since this baby will be born in the beginning of winter he (or she!) will be much small come winter time!

Also, does anyone know which car seats work for a sit and stand stroller

Following this!
had my son in one of the hottest summers and my edd is feb 3rd so alot of difference in the weather x

I'll be stalking this thread as I'm due end jan. Can't wait to wrap baby up in snuggly snowsuits and quilted onesies! ! Whoop!! Xoxo

We are getting the Nuna car seat. It goes on most any stroller and has cover over the top. Its highly rated as well for safety!

Just be aware that you shouldn't put snowsuits etc on babies in their car seats as they are unsafe plus likely to overheat.
Layers and blankets are much better.
They only need to be dressed the same as or an extra layer compared to what we are wearing.
You have heating on at home, in shops and in the car.
Xx

My dd was a winter baby and this one will be a winter baby, due dec 27th, I will just be buying extra blankets, long sleeved vests etc. we had a snow suit with dd but to be honest we never really used it THAT much.

My baby was born mid February and I have a dog so I took him out a lot even in that first month. If we were on a walk I had a quilted snow suit but I honestly didn't use it that much as it's so impractical for going anywhere as they don't recommend them for use in car seats. I did use my JJ Cole bundle me ALL the time. I also had a rain guard for my stroller to cut the wind on really cold days. Other than that, I used lots of blankets and hats to keep him toasty (I found shoes, jackets, etc were never used).

I had the graco snug ride 35 which I liked as I was able to use it for 2 winters with my son. It is much easier to bundle them up inside and snap them into the base in the car (ditto for unloading). In Canada most car seats only go up to 21 lbs but the snug ride 35 goes to 35 lbs and has a taller height limit which was the most important. My son would have been ok for two winters with the weight but he would have been too tall to stay in the infant car seat if we got the 22lb weight limit car seat for his second winter.

Just for the record..baby won't be wearing the snowsuits etc in the car...I meant for walks in the pram/Carrier
Thanks for the heads up though :)) I wasn't aware of the risk of putting babies in car with coats etc, silly really, but It actually reduces the safety of the car seat should you be in an accident as the straps won't be close enough to the body to retrain the child on impact xx

Yeah it's not widely advertised about the dangers of coats in car seats.
I've got a lambskin to line the pram.
Xx

Oh baby definitely won't be wearing anything in the car seat! Makes me so mad when Moms do that lol!

Raspberry where did you get a lambskin? That sounds lovely and snuggly :)

i had ds1 in december (snow) and ds2 in march (more snow) and they were both in little jackets/hats and blankets when they were out. snowsuits i found a pain in the ass to get on and off. DS1 was always well wrapped as he was very small so got cold easily.. he had on his vest/sleepsuit and then a little fluffy jacket, a wool knit hat, mits and one or two blankets every time we went out.. he was always well snuggled into his car seat (before anybody gets pissy with me about jackets etc... i dont own a car and didnt back then.. we walk everywhere or use buses so a jacket is not an issue).

For those using a car id just make sure they have a little cardigin/jumper on and then a nice warm hat and mits and tuck them in really well with blankets. xx

Ds has one that my parents purchased online from new Zealand. You do have to be careful and make sure it's baby grade etc.
He used to nap on it when we weren't at home/in the pram/travel cot/on the grass anywhere really in winter and summer as it keeps cool as well as warm.
This time I've got a slightly thinner one to line the pram, in grey, from ikea of all places. It's washable so I'll just wash it first before I use it and I'll use the other one that I had for ds for all the rest of its uses.
Xx

mmm i love sheepskin to sink my toes into on a winters morning, might ask DH to get me one for christmas lol,

my 3rd was a December baby and 4th september and with a fleecy footmuff for the pushchair and using the snowsuit in the carrycot of the pram then we got on ok in the british winter lol a rain shield is great to keep the wind off them as well.
