Wk 13 pregnent, Slow growth lower structure of fetus

Hi Doc did the ultrasound scan and said the lower portion of the fetus is still like a mass ball and even cannot see the spinal end. They tried to scan 3 times, but still got the same result.

Doc said he is afraid of Spinal Bifida. They asked for the another scan after 13 days.

I am scared. Any advice! Is it normal for slow growth in the lower portion of the fetus in wk 13.

I know a lot about spina bifida as my son has it and I work for a sb charity. I don't know much about development before 20 weeks.

Sb can mean a vast array of things from minor to major and normally after 16 weeks you can get a clear picture of how bad it is and how it will affect your child. I am happy to answer any questions you have.

Also there is a charity called Asbah which are brilliant at giving you info and support. If you google them (assuming you are uk, spina bifida association in us) you can find a number to call.

Normally when I meet people with a sb baby I point them in the direction of other mums with a similar level of sb - but it is too soon yet!
