Right Ladies, I need a little help and advice.

Currently I work for Marks and Spencer on a 21hour week contract. It worked really well when her dad was looking after her every other weekend, but now he's gone that changed things significantly. I cannot afford childcare at the weekends and I have no family nearby who can help.

i'm gutted because I love my job, and the timetable is nice. I guess the only thing is that it wouldn't be a long term career choice, but I loved it.

So my options are
1. Hope my boss can negotiate a new timetable for me (although this is highly unlikely as it will involve others changing their schedules)
2. Look for a new job
3. Demand FOB not be such a little shit and look after his responsibilities (again)
4. Quit my current job

I know it's prob gonna be number 2 - oh how I hate job hunting :-(

Really pissed at FOB fight now that I have to do this xxxxxxxx

thats such a shame you have to quit! is there not any nanny agencies or the like in your area? some of them can be really reasonable and have a sliding scale based on income? or how about a childminder? lots of them have started doing weekend work to meet demand?

hope you can get a soloution!

Hmm... could FOB cover the cost of childcare for you? Seeing as it's his fault you no longer have any.

First step hun.. Explain the situation to your boss, they could surprise you, and if not at least you then know what your next step will need to be.

It could be a case where they are maybe able to lower your hours and hire a weekender to pick up the few extra if no one else is available to take them on, or like you said rearrange them.

:hugs:

Xx

Thank you!

I did speak to my boss - she was rather understanding (she had a vague understanding as to what a little shit he is!)

Anyways we'll see if she can move my hours, if not then i'll have to change jobs. Yhe only reason I don't want childcare at the weekend is that it is expensive and she is already in daycare mon-wed during the week, weekends as well would be too much, i'd never see her :-(

Whoops, lol getting him to pay the maintenance he currently pays is HARD WORK asking for more money will just cause drama!!! too bored to play that game again :-) he really is so tight that it takes a spanner to get that 50 pence out of his hand!!!

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I'll keep my fingers crossed they can have a shuffle around with your hours.

Its good you've got an understanding boss.

xxx

Lol my boss has her moments!!

What you up to today??

I wish I could get pictures up, my comp is a real dinosaur :-( xxxxxxxx

lool I know that feeling - I've decided to tell neighbours i'm growing a Jungle, its a new look!!!

Glad to hear your boss is so understanding. Wish mine was!

Lol, we are not going to go overboard, she is generally not a very nice person, so I was very nervous going to her! but in this case she has surprised me :-)

Where do you work?? whats up with your boss? xxxx

I would talk to your boss first and see what they say, if you are a valued memeber of staff then im sure they can help you, be sad to give up a job that you like :(
