i felt extremely sick tues. i avoided being sick by laying in the bed all day with my almost six month old. yesterday i felt sickly but thought id be ok by today. today its the other end (sorry tmi) im so fed up now but im worried my daughter will get it as ive had to look after her and feed her as her dads working away.

if she does get it will she be severely poorly? what should i do if she does get ill? do i continue offering her milk but nit solids? do i give her more feeds to keep her hydrated?

I would try not to worry about it too much until you know you need to. Particularly if you're breastfeeding, she'll get antibodies from you anyway. It's also possible it was food poisoning, so unless she ate the same thing, she'd be in the clear anyway. My husband and I both came down with a bad stomach bug last year (nausea, vomiting, loose stools), but our daughter was fine. We also both got the flu last Christmas and were pretty much in bed for almost 2 weeks (we did it in shifts while the other cared for her). She had a bit of a cold, but was fine. So your LO may escape it altogether. If she does get sick, you might consider taking her to the doctor's, though they may not do anything but tell you just to wait for it to pass if she's doing okay. I tend to feed as normal through these things as long as she wants to eat. Offer plenty of fluids as well as normal food as you always would. If she wants it, she'll eat it. If not, she won't. Usually though they do a lot better with these things than we do, but as long as you're getting wet nappies, she's hydrated enough.

ok thankyou. thats a big help. hope it passes soon
i hope its something i ate too. xx
