Worried about son's feeds

I recently started combo feeding LO with expressed breast milk and introduced formula about 1 week ago.

He was doing okay for a few days, eating anywhere from 3-4 ounces.

Now he's only wanted to eat 1.5 - 2 ounces every 1.5-2 hrs and will fight the bottle if I try to feed him more. I tried to get him to go longer but he will stick his fist in his mouth and cry, asking for milk.

He's almost 2 months, only taking in 20 ounces/day, but only a small amount.

Is this normal? His poop has also been green and he's been straining a lot - must be constipated poor thing.

I have no experience of combo feeding, but it does sound like he might be constipated. Is he pooing regularly? Which brand of formula are you using?

I'm use GoodStart Gentle Plus (USA brand). He went from 3 poops a day to just one.

I tried going up a teat size but he wouldn't take it.

Called the doc today about it and he didn't seem concerned about him only taking 18-20 ounces. Said some babies just don't eat as much as others.

He also recommend Karo Syrup for the constipation but when I looked it up online it's not recommended???? Has anyone used Karo syrup? Or anything else for constipation?

If he's pooing every day it's not constipation. He might have a touch of trapped wind, or maybe just a bit of a tummy ache from switching over, with my LO a little (1/2-1oz) cool boiled water each day really helped with that, and would also help with constipation. Definitely better than karo syrup at that age!
