Ok so the only names we like are William and Edward.

However with a surname starting with Wood I think Edward might be a bit cruel?? what do you think?

William is ok but my DH middle name, Dad's and grandads, GG etc etc.

I absolutely am against and hate naming children after dead people or family. I've never had great 'families' so this idea fills me with sickness. i know alot of people do it and i get why but I hate most of my family so can't think of anything worse than naming my child after them.

I also dont want the MIL etc being like ' oh wonderful you've taken the family name'

no no!! It's one i've always liked and goes well and in such a heavily male dominated family all teh boys names are taken (seriously they have used all of them up)

I really love the name Kaleb/Caleb but my DH hates it, thinks it sounds foreign or whatever for a UK name.

Im having a boy and cant find any names i like at all!!!...My hubby likes the name Barney...but i dont.....The only one i like is Lucas but Hubby isnt sold by the idear....Girls names ive got in abundance but boys name im in the the same boat and cant think of any!

I don't have as many boy's names as girls. I love biblical names like Elijah, Gabriel, Nathaniel etc but DH dosen't like. I LOVE the name William- it's probably my favourite boys name but it's DH's name, so I won't use it I quite like Caleb too I also like Jacob, Thomas, James, Alfie

But we had Lewis,Luke,Ethan,Evan,Conor and my DS is Daniel.

For a girl we only had 2.

Why is it so hard with boys names?! I'm glad to see I'm not the only one. I really like Ethan, but my husband's boss's son is called that so that's out apparently. And Nathan but DH doesn't like it. We can't agree on one we like, it's a nightmare! I think by now I've probably heard or seen every single boy's name there is, I'm just hoping to stumble across one we've never heard before and that we'll both love!!!

I'm having a boy and finding it difficult picking out a name. Both my OH and I are having difficulties.

I also like Edward and William and I understand why you don't want to go with the family name. My OH and I are also against this, especially since his mom is fighting for us to use a family name. Oh, she keeps telling us she won't care if we don't use a family name, but she won't stop talking about it.

'he'll get bullied/that's weird/i know a p***k at work called that/knew a druggy called that etc etc"

so annoying!!

family thing is annoying esp as it joint top but like i said i don't want to be seen as using the 'family name' and falling in line because we don't get on and i dont want MIL to think i'm like some little puppy dog who does what she says. She has been awful to us over teh years.

Opinions on whether Edward Woodroffe (pronouned 'off' not uff) is odd/cruel??

I see what you mean about Edward Woodroffe - it's not particularly odd/cruel - just a bit difficult to get your tongue around. I think Lewis and Daniel go really nice with your surname x

Edward i would prob stay away from -- kinda rhymie & a bit of a tongue twister with your last name.... plus so popular & easily associated with the Twilight hype!

William is nice -- you could always use nn's so it's not "as much" of a family name? Wil, Billy, Liam, etc.

Maybe since your OH is so picky, you should have him look online & thru books and have him make a list of names he likes and then see if you like any of them too.

Luckily you have a long time to decide... plus there may be a pink bean in there!
