I would really welcome some advise as am in a confused state!

I had an ERPC for a MMC at 10w (baby died at 6w) 27 days ago. I had 8 days of bleeding followed by spotting up to day 12 and then nothing. However, I had to go back onto antibiotics for a mild grade infection as the dr thought there may be a small amount of retained tissue. My hcg levels were at 40 on the 11th and down to 10 on Monday.

Sunday and Monday I had period-like cramps and a small amount of spotting on Monday morning and then nothing on Tuesday. However, this morning I had light, bright red bleeding when I got up which has now turned to a brown discharge. I am assuming as my hcg levels were still at 10 on Monday that this isn’t my 1st AF after the d&c and is more likely to be the retained tissue being lost?? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. I really wanted this to be my AF so we could start TTC again - my dr advised us to wait at least a cycle before trying again.

I feel so confused, part of me is saying, just go for it now the hcg is normal and its been almost 4 weeks but on the other hand I don’t want to lose another baby by rushing in again when my uterus isn’t ready. Every day is like a week at the moment and it’s difficult to cope with the thought that my actual AF is probably another 4 weeks away.

So sorry for your loss and that you feel like your still in limbo:hugs:

Its so easy to say ok body get back to normal, but after a loss like this and all the extra stuff (infection, retained tissue) it takes a little longer for our bodies to get back to normal. I know that isn't what you want to hear.:dohh:

If I had to guess I would say this is still your body flushing everything out. Just think of it this way, your body is doing everything it can to get back to where it needs to be to have a healthy pregnancy:hugs:.

In the mean time take care of yourself, take your vitamins.. I am wishing you the best and good luck!!

, I agree with rachjim, it is still your body getting back to normal.

I'm 41 days since m/c & started spotting very slightly on & off from day 35, now seems to be turning to proper af.

I read that until your body is ready to carry another baby you won't ov. We had loads of :sex: since Istopped bleeding, but haven't got pg, I'm pretty certain that Ididn't ov, & that my body wasn't ready as my hormones have been all over the place.

Hope the :witch: arrives for yuo soon, and good luck ttc. Hope you get a very sticky bean very soon.

Hi there

Here is my experience:

When I had my D&C at 10 weeks ( baby left us at week 6) the doctor told me that it can take anything from 5 to 8 weeks before I get my first proper period. He told me that spotting is not classed as period - apparently it has to be continuous.

I am assuming that this is just your uterus trying to clean itself out. My personal advise would be for you to wait until you get a proper period before you try again, so you can be sure you are doing the right thing - the wait is so tough but you have to give your body a chance to heal completely.

Big hugs xxxx

Thankyou all for your kind words and support. The bleeding has continued with more fresh blood and although light is about as heavy as my periods always were pre-pregnancy. As you say though, its unlikely to be a true period. I'm sure there is a light somewhere at the end of the tunnel!
