wrong dating at early scans... post your stories here :)

hi guys,

well went for an early scan yesterday at exactly 8 weeks.... to be told the bubba measures 6+2 weeks?? so when talking to the midwife today she tells me to go by 8 weeks as scans this early are unreliable......

so i dont have to wait longer for my 12 week scan woop woop

anyways share your stories with me anyone had this happen either forward or back and then leveled out???

This time i had a scan when i should of been 5w4d but they dated me at 4 weeks. i was so scared as i new i must of been further. My next scan 2w and 2 days later i should of 6w2d by there new dates and 8w1d by my dates but was now 7w2 days so had made up a week. Then by there new scan dates i had my next scan at 12weeks (there dates and 12w6 days by my dates. but was 13 weeks so not only did i catch up but im now due 1 day ahead of lmp

thats reassuring! its horrible to not know wether you are coming or going i have to wait now til 12 weeks but atleast the wait isnt as long as i was expecting good to know it can level out though congrats x

With my first pregnancy, according to dates I was 10 and a half weeks and scan said 8.5 weeks. They calculated a due date off the 8.5wk date and I had a healthy baby three days before that due date. Weird things can happen

I went for my "12 week scan" 2 weeks ago to be told i was 10 weeks. I get to see LO again on Tuesday for my proper 12 week scan

had an early scan at 6 weeks but was told i was 5 weeks then had another one 2 weeks later and was measuring 8 weeks so was back on track with my original dates

By my dates I am 9+1 but when I went for emergency scan yesterday she said I was coming up to 9 weeks but couldnt give me a definite date as it wasnt a maternity scan. I got to see the heartbeat which was amazing! I ov'd approx 3 or 4 days later than mid cycle so coming up to 9 weeks is probably v.right. I have 12 wk scan on 13th april!!!

At my early scan with last baby they knocked a week off but by my 12 weeks i got that week back again

Last Thursday by my date I was 7+2, early scan dated at 5+5. Went for Follow up scan this week and back on track (ish), 8+2 by my dates and twins now measure 8 weeks.

by my period I should be 11 weeks but ultrasound today said 9weeks exact so we are 2 weeks off but I do ovulate late but by my dates I should be 10 weeks today maybe baby will catch up or maybe I did ovulate later on its a week so Im not that concerned since I wont make it to 40 weeks anyway but baby was very healthy and had heartrate of 170 today!!

from my dates i should have been 6 weeks 5 days yesterday but the ultrasound said i was late in 5 week to very earlier 6 weeks so glad others have gone through this...i was worried soooo much that maybe the baby stopped developing...i didn't get to listen to the heartbeat (maybe it was too small i don't know) i go back on April 14 so hopefully ill get some days back

it happens alll the time, when they scan your baby theyre looking at size and development COMPARED TO OTHER BABIES so basically no method of dating will ever be 100%

due dates annoy me as well... some women carry babies to 37 weeks, some to 42 weeks it takes however long it takes for each baby to be ready to be born. Due dates just make women impatient.

I am actually crying of joy here.
On Monday, I had an emergency scan (bleeding), and they told me I was just past 6 weeks, when the dates were saying nearly 8. I am really really sick all day long and this for the last 2.5 weeks.
I worry that maybe being sick is all for nothing, as the baby might not be developing right.... So So So So Glad that many women have had the same experience: thank you ALL!!

it definatley happens to alot of people by the looks of things and aslong as symptoms stick around im happy

I had my early scan at what I thought was 6 weeks 2 days and was told it was measuring 5 weeks 3 days. I said I was sure of ov date and they kept the date at 6 weeks 2 days as they said its so hard to tell at that early stage. At my 12 week one on Tues they've put me forward 4 more days, meaning I'd actually have been 6 weeks 6 days and measuring 5 weeks 3 days!

i went for an early scan the other week i was ment to be 7weeks 3days but was told i was 6weeks so a whole 10 days off what i had calculated! i am having my 12week scan in the next 4 weeks and i am so sceared! I hope my dates are fine and bubs is fine aswell x

it can go either way the most acurate time to get a date on a scan is between 8-12 wks before then baby is so tiny and the slightest wrong angle can give major changes.

you just wait some of us will be having our babies size measured just to have babys that weigh completely differently the next week when we are all close to due

i had an emergency scan last monday (worried about how bad morning sickness has been!) and by my dates I should have been 8 weeks and they said i was 6w2d! A whole 12 days out!

i now have 4 weeks to wait until my 12 week scan, its sooo worrying when bub doesnt measure to date so im sooo glad i found this thread! thankyou
