So at the in laws there will be about 7-10 of us aged 21-30 (siblings and partners) so gift buying each year gets pretty hard.

So thinking of doing a game where each brings 3 presents for less than £20 each and puts in a pile.

Then we all play a variety of games board games, quizzes, Wii) amd who ever wins get to pick a prezzie. (Obviously will fix it so when 1 person wins 3 times they are out)

Do you think it could work? Saves money, effort and makes it more fun at the time?

The game sounds good fun but you need to be careful people don't end up with £60 worth of tat or chocolates. Very hard to buy £20 gifts if you have no idea if its likely to be a male / female who will get it.

You could set it up so you have the right ratio of gifts and know what are male & female. That way people can buy male / female things rather than unisex chocolate.

But even with m/f ratios £20 is a lot for a stocking filler. You can't buy anyone clothes / t-shirts / pjs as you wouldn't know the size/colour.

I'd suggest split the budget £30 on a secret Santa gift. That way you know who you are buying for and everyone gets something worthwhile.
And 3x £10 stocking fillers for the game buy they need to be m/f that way you can get socks / smelly sets / cans of beer / chocolates / wine etc
