Hi ladies I was wondering what kind of themes if any you are all having for your weddings. I am playing with the idea of casino for the evening and perhaps jane austen theme for the day or secret garden with twinkly lights and butterflies and things for the day. Was thinking of naming the tables after jane austen books like Emma, Pride & Prejudice setc or even the house names in the stories like Mansfield park, thornfield manor, pemberly etc. Any insight into how your going about creating your themes to a budget would be brilliant. Thanks :flower:

I have no idea on themes, but I really really love your idea about naming your tables after the houses from the books  xx

Thanks i just want a wedding that's different and stands out and means something more to me.. I studied English literature at uni so have practicaly grown up reading the books and love going to national trust old manor houses dreaming away about the Austen characters lol. Just don't know if it's too feminine although if i give OH the casino theme for the evening that'll be a good compromise. Lol.

we had a kinda retro theme, favours were retro sweet's. table names were retro sweet's, cake was decorated in a retro fashion

Were having a scottish theme - we've tied it in with the purple theme and chucked bits of fuscia in to break it up. We've got a bagpiper, men in kilts, tartan and tables names after classic malt whiskys with a bottle of the named one on each table. I don't want it to be OTT

We had a destination wedding, so we had a palm tree theme.

omg can i steal ur wiskey bottle idea?

My theme is African!
My OH is South African and I have a huge obsession with South Africa so it was only natural for us to pick that. Still not 100% sure on which one but thinking our favourite places in SA or favourite African animals as table names. I'm having lots of bird's of paradise flowers in the table arrangements. Favour's are going to be chocolate animals (SIL owns a chocolate company) elephants and giraffe's with animal print ribbon around them.
I'm trying to get "gumboot" dancers for the eve reception but ant find anybody :nope: Really want African drummers so will probs have them for the reception, Im part of a Djembe drumming group so that should be easy enough to persuade everyone. Ok Ive babbled on for long enough! :haha: I love hearing about other people's themes

We dont really have one, the thought never even crossed my mind tbh. I will says its very child friendly though

We are having a vintage theme. The colours used all over are black, pearl and vinatge pink. I know you said not to mention colours, but its the colours that give our wedding the theme!!! Apart from that, there is alot of black lace involved, black and white chair covers and table names (which are named after my OH's fav skateboarders- yes he's 25 and still skateboards!!!). The cake is also very vintage looking, so is my dress and the bridesmaids dresses. We've decorated the inside with candelabras drapped in pearls and white tulle with candles and the outside with bunting, tree & floor lanters and also chinese lanterns that you make a whish with and let them go (we're not allowed fireworks). I'll have to think of the other things we're having.....

We had a vintage theme. I described it to the photographer as cath kidson meets laura Ashley!! We had lots of pinks and greens in the bunting, lavender on the place settings. The cakes were all cream with vintage roses and other flowers on them. We got married in jersey so named our tables after our favourite places there. We had a local artist paint pictures of the places to go on each table.

We are having a 'sweet' theme and have called it 'love is sweet'...we wanted to be very different.

We are having a huge sweetie table...pic n mix style.
Tables are names after sweets
Table plan is going to have sweets stuck all over it....based on one i saw on millie and me website.
The napkins are going to have candy bracelets around them..with tags and their names.
Having personalised love hearts too

xx
