how many ozs is your baby on? and what time scale are they feeding from?
i cant seem to get amy into a feeding routine,i know she is only a week old but her feeds are up and down.sometimes she has 3-4oz every 4 hrs sometimes less..is this ok?
midwife has weighed her and she lost an oz,she is gettn weighed again on the 11th of august.
any advice plz
xx

My baby is 2 weeks wednesday and she takes 3 oz every 3hours or so..im finding her crying for the milk before the 3 hours the last 2 days tho so im uopping it to 4oz every 3 hours and see if that works better x

My lil man is 7.5 weeks old and only on 4ozs 4-5hrly I just can't get him to take ne more hv is worried bout his gain as he's going but slowly and going down from 50centile to 25th now on 9th :(

Dont worry too much hun, in the first few weeks feeding will be all over the place. A lot of babies will lose weight in the first week, its normal. Just go with the flow, your lo will putting on plenty of weight soon. My lo was on 3 to 4 oz every 2 to 3 hours till around 3 weeks then went up to 5 oz every 3 hours.

I agree with Shady. Babies do lose weight within the first month. As for feeding, I think a lot of it is trial and error for the parents. Also, keep in mind that your baby is trying to establish his or her own feeding pattern after never being hungry in Mummy's belly!

I found my baby liked to gnaw her hands when she was hungry, and eventually established a feeding routine of about every 3 hours. (bit better at night!)

Abi is only on 4oz, 7 times a day at 4 months, but is still gaining weight. It's very difficult to compare as it depends on height of parents etc. Amy will have growth spurts and you won't be able to get enough feed into her. Don't worry too much as all babies are different. Amy will certainly let you know if she's hungry!

LO is only taking four feedings of 5 to 6 oz per feed every 4 to 5 hours. Her doctor told me to start her on solids and she has breakfast and dinner. I worried that she wasn't taking enough formula since she dropped to 4 bottles and have tried offering her more per bottle, but she will not drink it. I guess if she isn't hungry and is gaining weight, she's fine!

Ella is 7wks and formula fed 4wks. Weighs 9lb 11oz and is taking SMA Hungry Baby.
I make up 6 bottles for a 24hr period.
Ella now sleeps through the night, last feed at 10.30pm and wakes between 6.30am and 7am.
5 o those bottles that I make up are 4oz ones and the bedtime one is a 5oz.
Generally she does 3hrs inbetween although in the morning she would eat your hand if she could and may want 2 x 4oz bottles say 2hrs apart then the next 4hrs later.
I play it by ear, she is gaining fine, not being overfed and sleeping through the night with naps in the day lasting 2hrs.
4pm she has 1oz of water as it is hot.
I let her tell me when she is hungry. If she does not want a full 4oz I am not bothered.
