I had my beautiful little miracle 7 days ago via elcs due to breech positioning. I had to avoid eating and drinking from the night before until 3 pm next day when she was born. I was allowed to drink liquids at 5pm:wacko:
The surgery itself wasn't a big deal on my side, I assume it was a lot of work for the doctors as they took their time with it. No complications but they put resorbable stitches which take longer than staples.
I was moved to recovery and the baby put skin to skin asap (my dh held her from the first few moments). After I started feeling my legs, I was moved in my room, with if an catheter so unable to move till next morning. I wasn't eager to walk, as I started to feel the pain. My face was very itchy during the night and pain was present with every move, I was given tylenol and advil only.
Next morning, catheter was removed and I had to go to the washroom, wasn't easy, but it wasn't as bad as I thought. During that day I felt the pain increased in intensity and by the end of the day I was almost crying. Days after got better and better and in 48 hours after surgery I was sent home.
Painkillers: tylenol and advil
Supplements(per me) : 2x 2 vitamin c/day with rose hips, bromelain/turmeric 2x2/day, zinc citrate 50mg 1/day, stool softener 4/day (not enough btw ),

Today I have a week from sec and I can say I am operational, I still have some pain, I can't laugh properly, I have pain in my bladder when I pee(apparently normal due to moving things around during csect ), I am able to do most of the house work slower, not heavy lifting, vacuuming, etc but basics.
This is my experience so far and I know I have a long way to recovery but I am positive and hopeful that it will not be long to hold my older daughter in my arms/lap again :hugs:

Ouch on tylenol and advil? I had a C-section with my daughter and got up right after I had her... I hated the catherder it had to come out and I have to say prob best thing I did... After that I was walking around and feeling a lot better..

I am also 1 week after c section, was an emergency c section.

The catheter was horrible... and I had that in for 24 hours after.

I have a pain in my tummy when I wee today... got the midwife to feel the wound and was sent to doctor for antibiotics.

Im 5 days post emergency general anaesthetic c section. I've got dissolve stitches which is better but still mighty painful.

I was in HDU for 24 hours after mine as my hb was at 122bmp and wouldn't shift. Baby was fine after the birth despite having to be ressusitated owing to shock of his delivery.

I spent 1 night on the ward after my night in HDU and am now home and tired.

I had my c section 5 days ago. Only given motrin. But the pain isnt as bad as with my first c section. I feel like I can do most things hut slowly. I too cant wait to be able to pick my older son. For now I've sat on the sofa and my husband lays him on my lap.

Btw mine was sealed with dermabond same as my first.

Wow just tylenol and advil for pain? my doctors had me on morphine the first 12-18 hours would have been for longer but I begged for something else due to I wanted to remember my time in the hospital with the baby. And they sent me home with a 12 day prescription for oxycodone. They told me since I recovered so fast they wanted to send me home 2 days afterward but I told them I wanted an extra day for me and the baby there. I started a new job after number 3 was born. And 2 weeks after working there I got pregnant (from DH of course). So I will have 4 children under 6 ( a 5 yo DS, a 3 yo DD, a 11 1/2 month old DS and a newborn DS all at the same time). I recover alot faster when I push myself to do what I can do within reason. After my second c-section my DH told me he needed to work and the kids need fed and cleaned after and the house needed cleaned up. So I was on my own, I remember being so pissed at the time cause he said it after my 2 hour nap when I got home. He took me out that night and I got to work cleaning after we got home. In the end it got done and that was that.

Wow! I can't believe they didn't give you more for pain! I had morphine in my spinal/IV during for afterwards to help me that night. Our situations re very similar. Loan was breech too and I wasn't aloud to eat/drink until 9 that night. Couldn't eat before we went in @ 5am and they were going to try and turn him @ 12 and couldn't so section at 5pm and then once I was in my actual room and moved from recovery that night it was after 9pm and they let me have food and drink. I wasn't even aloud ice chips during the day :( I had staples and the dissolve stitches and a little glue too :haha: they wanted to make sure I stayed together well I guess. I stayed in the hospital from 5am Monday to 1pm Friday. Baby was healthy just to make sure I was healed enough before heading home. They had me on a high dose of ibuprofen and vicodin. I was allowed 2 vicodin every 4 hrs but only took 1 when needed which was close to every 4 hrs and then had my ibuprofen 1 every 6hrs and made sure I took that one regularly. Once home they gave me a prescription for both. I was actually very grateful for the cath the 1st like 20hrs. I didn't feel it at all. They managed to drug me just enough and just right so I was numb in the right places but I can remember almost all of it. I had an amazing anesthesiologist. If it were't for him my experience would have been awful but honestly other than being a little upset I never even got to go into labor my c-section experience was wonderful and I am very grateful for him. I past out in the OR at the very end and woke up almost immediately once we hit the recovery room and bf'd. It was so painful when I tried to pee without my at tho. It was the worst part of it all for me. That and my 1st bm :(

first of all congrats on your new baby :hugs:
second of all, you should have persisted and asked for stronger pain relief then again the midwives and nurses should have had a house surgeon on call to supply stronger pain meds as after my section, the spinal wore off within the hour after the baby was born so i asked for strong pain meds as i was only offered codeine and paracetamol so they gave me morphine via drip which did not work, turns out i am morphine intolerant so they gave me tablet form of oxycontin which is highly addictive but boy did it work, i had no pain and could sleep while my bubba was in the special care unit due to being early and needing breathing help. then after 24hrs i was on codeine and the odd paracetamol as well as an anti-inflammatory for four days then discharged and prescribed codeine and and the same anti inflammatory meds, then i went onto OTC pain releif but wow at week one i was so imobile my husband had to do everything from changing baby to making bottles, sterilizing and feeding. i could walk to the shower and toilet and all of that but other than that i was told to spend two weeks as close to bed as possible lol so you will need to take it slowly. :) also go to your doctor and ask for some prescription tramadol that is good as long as you are not on an SNRI antidepressant like i was, then its great for pain relief
