Lydia is 1 next week, can hardly believe it myself, thought it was only the other day I was saying how glad I was that her vaccines were done until she was 1!!! Broke my heart when she had the first 3 sets and now she's older and alot more aware I'm really dreading her vaccinations...I know the letter will be falling through the door in the post soon with a date on it for them

How did you LO's react to these injections now they're older and more aware?? Any tips for distracting my LO? I can't believe it's another 3 injections...that day will consist of cuddles, cuddles and more cuddles!

Our little guy started to whimper a bit and cling to me when he got his but we settled him down fairly easily with some cuddles and a snack. :)

My LO had 3 (2 in one leg and 1 in the other). He cried as soon as she did the first one, and carried on crying until we got out of the room and I gave him a Humzinger!
He was fine afterwards at first, but then he got really tired and upset and was screaming :(. I put him to bed an hour earlier than normal and ge was perfectly fine the next day.
Good luck.
xx

I know what you mean about them coming round so fast! I couldn't believe it when the letter came through, we had to change Callums appointment though as it was made for a day after his bday and I couldn't do that to the poor lad!

Callum had 2 injections in one leg and one in the other. He did cry whilst they were done but I just had him facing me and was cuddling him. Luckily the lady was really good and did them really quick, I stood up with him as soon as she'd done them and he stopped crying pretty much straight away! He even waved at the nurse to say bye at the end of them! Just keep telling yourself that its for their own good.

Callum had no reaction whatsoever and was fine, the other three injections he'd needed calpol but he had no reaction to this one.

Good luck :flower: xxx

Our letter arrived today! I binned it. We're delaying till 18 months at the earliest. X

Madeline was absolutely fine after hers. She cried, of course, but it's the shock more than anything. They did them so quickly, it was over in a flash. She let out a big cry (which of course is horrible), then had a few sobs - then I opened her tub of raisins and within a minute or two she was happily tucking into them and offering them to the HV.

She was fine after them too. x

LO's is friday! We are delaying the MMR though.. but i'm wondering if i need to let them know first?! Sorry to hijack your thread xxx

Mine cried horribly during it but had zero reaction after except spots at 7 days later. No sleep/fussy issues. He was horrible for days after his other shots.

Possibly yeah, I phoned up to cancel Callums at the doctors and they said its not actually an appointment I can just go to any of the monday baby clinics and they'll be able to fit me in so I went on the monday after. Not sure how it'll be so long after, you could maybe phone them and ask them xxx

My daughter cried, but the vaccinations can sting, so it hurt when it was injected. It was over quickly though. I didn't give her any medication for it, and she seemed fine after the intial shock. She had a nap straight after too, LOL. I think it wore her out!

About 12 days after the vaccinations she developed a rash from the MMR (the measles part I assume), but they say rashes are just a sign that the vaccine is working so nothing to worry about. They tell you to keep an eye on LO in case they develop a temperature or seem ill, but other than that, a rash is totally fine after the MMR. It took about 10 days for it to go, and she was fine the entire time. She wasn't bothered by it at all.

This was her rash:

Just reading through the responses - how come peope have different amounts? One said 3, one 2, my lo only had 1 at 12 months. It was the menc and dip(?) booster, the MMR is due at 13 months.

I live abroad, and at the 12 month appointment they give 3 vaccines here. The MMR, the diptheria booster and another one (I don't remember which). I don't think I need to take her now until she's either 18 months or 24 months. I suppose this way they get it all out of the way in one visit.

I am DREADING the MMR. Prob all the scare mongering that ive read about it. Im soo paranoid about it now :(
