My MIL had paid for us to go out for a christmas dinner yesterday (Christmas Day) and it was booked ages ago. Our table was booked for 3pm and when we got there they were queuing out of the door. The lady on the front desk was so stressed and apologising for the wait. We had to wait for almost an hour for our table that we had booked for 3pm to be free. Then an hour after that, at 5pm, we still hadn't received our starters yet. James was crying his eyes out and getting really hungry so they brought him 2 small sausages. They said a staff member had walked out after 20 minutes, leaving them behind on work, but surely being one staff member down wouldn't cause all that chaos. There were way too many people in there, it was so loud, staff were running around beyond stressed, some staff were actually in tears they were that upset and stressed, customers everywhere were complaining. The kids were begging to go home after a 2 hour wait and not even receiving starters yet. We asked for a refund and they said they couldn't do refunds on Christmas day but if we went in Boxing Day or afterwards then they would process it and gave us a signed receipt. The staff were so apologetic and kept asking if there was anything else they could do. I felt so sorry for the staff as they were so overworked, in tears and just rushing about everywhere, never seen anything like it. All the staff and customers just looked utterly miserable. So that didn't go as planned at all and we ended up making something at home to eat rather than having a Christmas Dinner.

Oh no! That's so sad and disappointing for everyone :sad1:
Surely they were not allowing walk-ins too which made them over full? I feel for the staff working in hospitality this time of the year, a lot of pressure is on them. The chef would have been ripping his hair out behind the scenes!

I hope you managed to enjoy your meal at home, and maybe have a late Christmas dinner at a later date :xmas14:

My brothers a head chef and he said yesterday is like carnage I can't imagine what they were like where you went tho I think at that point I prob would have walked out, I've been in the industry and done a Xmas day its manic but wow so sorry you had to go through that xx
