I need help. DD2 is letting out an ear piercing scream, mostly at meal time, when she wants more food - or for who knows what reason. I try to keep things on her tray- steamed veggies, puffs, mesh feeder etc, and I'm doing traditional weaning and feeding her puree. When she wants another bite she lets out this ear piercing scream. This happens like 20 times during a meal and I can't take it anymore. My ears start ringing and sometimes it causes me a massive headache. It makes meal time for all of us very unpleasant and obviously we can't take her anywhere. We are going to visit dh's grandma in a few weeks for thanksgiving. She lives in a retirement home and i'm dreading having meals with her. Anyone have any suggestions? It's been going on for a couple months but has gotten worse lately. I tried telling her no and she just laughs. I tried ignoring her but that isn't working either. Now I'm trying to teach her the sign for "more". Any suggestions?

There really isn't anything you can do other than not encourage it and wait it out. Since it is sometimes related to food, I would teach her "more" and introduce finger-foods. have to go now... good luck!

Thank you! It is getting worse! I do give her some finger foods but she eats them so quickly now. I had tried the "more" sign, but need to be more consistent about it. If anyone else knows of any ways to calm this please let me know!

Mine went through a loud shouting phase when eating, not screeching as such but really really loud all the same!. I ignored it and carried on feeding as usual and the phase passed. But if you need to keep the sound down you could also try taking her down when she does it. Go do something else for a bit and then try again. The second the screeching starts take her down again. Annoying lot of faffing I know but they do (or so i've noticed at least) tend to make connections quite quickly.

Thank you I will try that!!
