Any know if still possible to conceive with only 10 morphology?sperm count and motility is fine just morphology. Any info would be helpfull. Thanks

Ours ranges from 6-8% and FS says its within the norm. But then I spoke with an old-fashioned gynaecologist said that with morphology like that there's no way he can fertilise an egg with morphology so low. And that apparently the new norms are all aimed at IVF. As in with morphology this low IVF shud still work.

Saying that it only takes the one - so in theory it can still happen!

Hi Hun, my hubby has 5% morphology which dr said we would need ivf but research on the net says 5% is in the normal range. But we are going to see a specialist in the 1st dec for a 2nd opinion.

We conceived may last year but sadly I miscarried. Not sure what to think. ?

If it happened once it will happen again it just might take more time that's all. Have u spoken to a fertility specialist? X

We're going through a the tests with our gp then once a results come in we will discuss our next move. So far I know I'm ovulating and my scan showed everything ok with my womb and Overys. I'm not sure what to think. Do you think they will offer us help? I'm hoping to get my tubes checked too.

Just popping in as this forum and assisted conception still feel a bit like my spiritual home!

My DH has 5% normal forms and we were told it is technically possible for us to conceive naturally but after 3 years trying we ended up with IVF with ICSI.

I think with 10% you still have a chance but it'll just take longer. :hugs:

i think (was over two years ago now) that DH's morphology was only 9%, plus low motility and count, plus i have endometriosis and we managed to conceive (took two years plus letrozole and surgery for me). but 10% morphology is definitely do-able !

My DH has 1 % morphology, we were told that unless there is something sevrely abnormal with the sperm then we should still conceive, they told us that it is the cell inside the sperm that needs to be normal, the shape does not matter. if the sperm is genetically normal it can still fertilise an egg. I tried to argue this with our FS but they told us it is fine.

Its very strange people are told such different things, I really don't know what to think. I have been given clomid for low progesterone, but I hate to think of filling my body with drugs if its pointless with DH's morphology.

There was a study on fertile men who got their partners pregnant within one year and they found the average fertile man only had 15% morphology, this is why they lowered all the normal ranges. We are still below normal which is 4% but FS is not concerned... I do not have a BFP though, and I wonder if this is the reason??

You did get a BFP with 10% though so of course its possible!! hopefully it will happen to you again FX'd

Thanks very much for your imput ladies. I guess we'll see what happens. Im hoping and praying we can conceive naturally but if getting help speeds it up then I will jump at the chance. It's been such a hard 18 months.

That's really interesting info Sophe, so glad you shared. My husbands SA was completely normal except for morphology which was 0%, however he has a child from another marriage, so he was successful in the past. We're planning to do another SA soon to see if it shows anything different.
