The judgement of strangers when my 7 year old has what looks like a tantrum used to get to me. He's got ADHD so he acts on impulse which makes it me an easy target for rude strangers who tell me I need to 'control my son', 'discipline him' or 'a quick smack across the backside will nip that in the behind'. I don't explain anymore because it's no one else's business but I just made sure I am as rude as humanly possible. It's not like I will ever see them again anyway.

Friend experienced this today with my LO. She has him for In Home Care and it was an excursion with the other children within the business. One lady proceeded to try and give my 13 month old fresh cream. Fortunately, our friend is very familiar with Alexander and knows he's got an intolerance to dairy or a cows milk allergy (doctor is unsure as to which at the moment) which is why he's on Goat formula. The friend told this other woman not to give it to him and she moaned that a little 'won't do him any harm'. While we have discovered ice-cream is an exception to the rule and have no idea why, he doesn't get dairy otherwise. Go figure, she's not the one waking up several times a night because cream and milk give him a very sore tummy and leaves him unsettled for a couple of nights nor is she the one watching him 4 days a week either so her income won't be affected. :growlmad:

Oh wow that's really inconderate !! I would have went mental . Good job you have great friends around you ! My DD has cows milk protein allergy . I absolutely hate it when people say it won't do them any harm yes it will !! Jeesh !!

Not sure if you know (sorry if seems inappropriate !) my GP told me not to give my little one goats milk or any other form of milk from animals given they all have very similar protiens to cows milk? We were told to try Soya Almond or Coconut .
X

Sure know that feeling. Because these idiots don't deal with our babies on a day to day basis they have NO idea what we as parents have to go through to remedy the situation because of negligence. :growlmad: It's not always as simple as loose bowel movements and an upset tummy for a couple of hours!

The friend was really pissed. She told the other woman we weren't anal about it but what dairy we were trying to introduce was our call and ours alone. So far, only ice-cream seems to go down without issue and we can only put that down to the presence of egg somehow acting as a protective barrier for his system maybe. Another friend also has a little one with the same issue and he's still can't manage any dairy. But even she said that people should ASK instead of assuming. My little guy could have had a serious allergy to dairy (so lucky he doesn't) that could have killed him but she never bothered to ask if it was okay as she just assumed. :growlmad:

GP never said anything. But we'd tried soy too and that just came up. I think it may have been the taste. But Goat stays down and the GP said if that worked, keep with it because he was putting on weight as expected. Very similar proteins yes, but with Goat it's more refined and the chains are smaller and as a result, easier to digest and process. :)

I just think if it's not your child don't offer without knowing any allergies etc ! Could be very dangerous . I would be really peed off like your friend!

Soya milk tastes disgusting I had some when DD2 was using it lol she seemed to like it didn't bother her drinking it only didn't agree with her . I've never heard that about goats milk so thank you for that information we just got told it's a no go !

I'm sure people think we say they are allergic to something just because we don't want them to have it !
