Hi,
My baby is 11 months old last week. He is usually a happy and content baby.
I am worried about his development. I know every baby is different but I see that his development is being very slow.
All he does is army crawl by dragging one leg and he will sit unsupported only when we make him sit.
He does not sit on his own or crawl on all four.
Is there any exercise/activity that I can do to help him sit and crawl on his own?

He does more than my DD does. The health visitor said she has no concerns about DD's development so I'm sure you LO is fine but if in doubt see your doc x

You say he doesn't sit up but can he sit? Is it just that he chooses not to?

I've never paid much attention to milestones as I believe every baby gets there when they're ready but if you're concerned, see your Dr. I won't lie, I'd be a little worried if your LO isn't sitting unaided. Crawling etc, not so much (some babies never do) but the sitting thing, perhaps. Unless your LO can sit but is lazy, in which case I wouldn't worry!

Hi,
You could ask your Gp to refer on to a community paediatric physiotherapist (this is what I do) who can do an assessment to see what level your lo is at and make recommendations on how to improve their motor development. It would really put your mind at ease :flower: x

You say he sits unaided only when you make him sit. Does that mean he CAN sit unsupported, but can't get himself into a sitting position from lying down? If so I don't think thats such a worry - my DD has been sitting since 6 months but she can't get herself there from lying down yet. She also doesn't crawl not even army crawl. Can he bear weight when you put him standing against a support (sofa, chair or whatever). My DD can't pull-up onto furniture yet (apparently this is much easier from a crawling position) but she can stand very well and cruise a bit. I'm a bit frustrated that she's not moving yet but I'm not really worried.

If you see a physiotherapist you can probably get some exercises to help, there's probably some on youtube as well.

Don't worry!
My baby girl just started crawling a few days ago and she's almost 11 months..
I didn't do any exercises with her and just let her do it on her own!
Now she's everywhere! Lol

The only thing I'd give a second thought to would be if he couldn't sit unaided, but it sounds like he can? I really don't think there's anything to worry about. My LO did that army crawl for ages. If it suits him and he can get around it probably hasn't even occurred to him to try anything else. Some kids never crawl, some bum shuffle etc but it doesn't mean that something is wrong. It's not just that babies do it all at their own pace, they all do their own thing too.
