11 week old hungry but fussing and won't latch!

She has done this a few times over the last few weeks but this evening its gone on for over an hour!

She is rooting, sucking hands and crying like she is hungry but when I try and latch her she gets very frustrated and only has a quick half hearted attempt only to arch her back and scream like she is in pain!
I calm her down and try again or reposition, tried skin to skin etc and nothing! She has gotten so exhausted now she is sleep so I'm going to hope she is back to her usual self when she wakes! She doesn't have wind and seems fine in herself!

Phoebe does this when shes REALLY tired. All the signs of being starving but really she just wants a quick suckle to get her off. No idea if thats what was wrong, just giving my experience

Thanks for your reply! It's looking like you may be right about being tired! After her 25 min nap yesterday she woke and latched and fed fine.

She done in again today, all the hunger cues but when trying to latch gets angry and upset and doesn't actually latch just get exhausted and cries herself to sleep only to wake and feed fine!

It's really frustrating for me! Lol. Actually gets me all worked up and flustered myself, I'm then nervous for the next feed!

Yep, my lo did this too at around the same age! Was just overtired! Stresses you out though, wish they could tell you what was wrong!

My 12 week old is doing the exact same! If she's tired she will fuss and refuse to feed which become very stressful for me and her! She's fine to feed when she's calm or dozy.

Urgh. The dreaded tired and hungry baby.

Still happens with my DD until either sleep or latching on wins.
