When did your LO get theirs and how did they react afterwards?

I'm really unsure of what to do, I was talking to my friend the other day who's son is about same age as mine and she said there's no way she's getting, she kinda made me feel bad for wanting to get it for my son, before speaking to her I was 100% sure he was getting them.

She said something about how she's not going to give him the mmr jab which kinda confused me cause I thought it was one jab together iykwim?

I did have it booked two weeks ago but couldn't make the appointment and the gp rang me beforehand to remind me of it.

So what did you guys do? Also how many injections is it?

xx

Adrian had them just after his first birthday. To be honest, it didn't even cross my mind NOT to give them to him
Think it was 3 injections. It upset him a little at the time but he was fine afterwards. He didn't get poorly or anything.

We spread ours out. So he had the boosters at 12 months and the mmr at 15 months. X

Me too! Until I spoke to a friend who said she won't be getting it and didn't get it for her four year old either x

Tommy had them all together, 3 injections in total ,and I now wish I had delayed the MMR which is what I did when Daisy had hers. He was fine straight after but became very poorly 10 days later. He got measles as a side effect of the MMr and then mumps as a side effect 2 weeks later which turned into viral conjunctivitis, ear and throat infections and a terrible cough. He's had two doses of antibiotics and still isn't right He actually hasn't been well since he had the MMR which was almost 2 months ago but was 100% fine until 10 days after it. Daisy had hers at almost 16 months with no side effects at all. I know another member from here who is on my facebook has had her son poorly with measles recently 10 days after the MMR too.

I was due to take my son a week after his 1st birthday for the combined 12 month/mmr jabs.

As the clinic only do the jabs on a wednesday, when I work and he is in nursery I didnt go!

That was just before Christmas and to be honest I forgot all about it til a couple weeks ago. Tried to get LO into doctors to have it but nope, they need it done on a wednesday as thats when the clinic is on!!

I am waiting til the easter holidays, just because it suits me, he will then be 17 months when he has the jabs.:flower:

Aww that doesn't sound too nice :(
I was just reading on here the side effects it can cause https://www.nhs.uk/Conditions/vaccinations/Pages/mmr-side-effects.aspx

Hope your LO is feeling better x

I was super worried and debated and debated whether I should postpone or not, or spit them up. We finally decided to just do it and get it done with. SHe had them one month ago when she was about 12.5 months and so far has had zero side effects. Obviously the actual injection didn't feel good, but once we picked her up and consoled her that was the end of it. No problems AT ALL afterwards! I was very relieved!
