13 oz in 8 days?

My little girl was weighed today and she's put on 13oz in one week... That seems like a lot in such a short amount of time? Should I be worried?

Obviously I'm really happy she's getting bigger but just seems like such a jump in a small time. No concerns have been raised at all but just a FTM wondering! She's 3 weeks on thursday.

I think there is a growth spurt around 3 weeks, so that could account for the gain. I wouldn't worry about it!

Every baby is different. My DS just went from 8 pounds at 2 weeks to 12 pounds at 6 weeks. So that's about a pound a week and he's Bfed. ��

My son gained a pound a week until he was 6 weeks. Dr was happy with his weight gain as he was only 6lb at birth. He is bf and his weight had slowed down a lot now hes 6 months xx

No problem! It's a wonderful thing. Mine gained enormous amounts to start with in a very short space of time. Since I was breastfeeding, I was extra chuffed! Any weight gain is always brilliant, as long as you are feeding on demand.

That sounds wonderful actually. Where is she on the centile chart? You may find that actually that's a very normal amount and she's maintaining or just slightly moving up in the centiles. They do gain a lot every early on relative to their overall body size. At that age, mine still hadn't even regained the weight she lost after birth and wasn't even back to birth weight, which is something to be concerned about. The fact she's growing so well and obviously eating all she needs is great.

She is doing great! James put on a similar amount at that stage and so did Holly, but it slowed down

Thank you girls! She's still only 8lbs something (baby brain!) (last time she was weighed, probably more now!) but glad it's an ok gain
