Can someone reassure me please? I am coming up to 14 weeks pregnant and last few days I have been experiencing lower back pain and a lower tummy pain that's a bit crampy. Is this normal?! x

Having never have been that far into pregnancy (this is my first time) I can't be certain but I know around this time your uterus starts going higher which may cause cramping and look up round ligament pain (apparently it starts most frequently at the 2nd trimester). Stay positive! Go to get checked out if you need to make sure and maybe check out the 2nd trimester forum to see if other ladies have had similiar experiences! Good luck, I hope that everything continues happy and healthy!)

try not to worry too much, I think this is probably your uterus stretching as baby will be getting bigger now and I always have rotten backache when I am expecting, If you are not bleeding and the pain doesn't take your breath away I wouldn't worry too much, maybe phone your Doctor if you are really really concerned but this is baby number 4 for me and I have suffered from these symptoms in all my pregnancies xx

Thank you ladies, no bleeding and it's not as sore after rest so will take it easy for few days. Spoke to midwife and that's what she advised too. Thanks again x

dont worry hun, im nearly 13 weeks and im getting the same but everythings fine i had my scan yesterday. :) xx

Hi Kooky, I'm 11 weeks and my lower back has been hurting for more than a week. It gets extremely painful at times and feels as if it were giving way when I bend a little. The ligaments and muscles are expanding and stretching to cater for your LO. The front of your tummy too. I've asked around the forum, the pharmacist and also my doc...nothing much can be done to ease the pain other than taking paracetamol, a heat/cold pack or swimming/yoga to strengthen the muscles. I'm refusing to take any paracetamol if possible, hence am using the heat pack. Am waiting for our new place to be ready and will have a small tiny pool to swim in, hopefully that'll take some pain away.
