So im 13 weeks and already on maternity leave because the job i do involves heavy lifting and manual labouring (work in construction) well anyways iv had like 2 days off so far and my word im so bored anyone got any ideas i can do to pass time away seen as iv already got list upon list of baby stuff i need so thats sorted i have my nursery organised in my head when we come round to doing it and i have every thing baby wise picked other than that i have 0 things to do .. I pretty much have no friends anymore seen as soon as i announced i was pregnant they all dissapeared and OH works from 6.30 am till 5pm so have all that time alone ... Any ideas would be a big help

Thanks in advance :)

Would it not be possible for you to continue working for the same company in a more administrative capacity? By law your employer is required to change your job to something 'pregnancy friendly' and I would worry by starting ML so early you will have little to no time at home after the birth.

oof, I'm in a similar boat.. had to stop work early, not because of my pregnancy but because I ripped my arm out of socket and have to have surgery. It is really boring being home alone all day

Stuff I've been doing: deep cleaning, baking, sewing/crochet, lots of walks with the dogs. Swimming at the local pool for exercise... I have family that lives near by- go visit with them. Not sure if you guys have berry picking/apple season there- but I've been having fun picking and canning all of that....

My family has also realized with me having so much free time now that I can be dragged on hunting trips to be official "game spotter" cause they all have bad eye sight haha. I get good meat for the freezer though, so can't complain cause I dont have to do all the work of hauling it out!

Ahh that makes sense! You are a lucky lady in that case! Apart from the boredom...I can send you my ironing if you like?! :haha:

I've been off work for a year with a back injury, but should be going back in the next month or so. I did a lot of quilting to pass my time. It takes a lot of concentration, so it took my mind off of the pain in my back and I have some cute things for the baby already. I can't stand reading. It just puts me to sleep, so I did a lot of cooking, too. My husband works for the same company, so I made lots of things for him to bring in for everybody. I also spent days making recipes that I typically wouldn't make because they take more time throughout the day.

I do some cleaning when I can tolerate the pain that I get with it.

I talk to my mom a lot (she's several states away and my brother just got deployed to the middle east so it takes her mind off of things).

We live several states away from all of our family members, so I made a booklet...about 35 pages long...about area attractions so that they know what they can do when they come visit. It drives me nuts how everybody complains that there is nothing to do!

Just because you are off from work doesn't mean that you can't take care of yourself. You can still go to the gym to ride the bikes or do some walking on the treadmill. I do a lot of exercises for my arms so that they will be strong to carry around the baby and baby equipment.

Learn knitting or quilting..you can make lots for your baby..or even learn sewing and you can make little outfits :) I can always send you some cleaning!! You can come hang out at my place... its a nice town very friendly and you can do all my cooking cleaning and following my dogs with a broom to clean up the dog hair :haha:

Thanks for the offers of doinf people cleaning and stuff haha but i dont even do my own the OH does all ours and i dont even know how to use a iron :$ pretty bad for a 21 year old i know but iv always had family and OH to do it for me ... Think im gunna have to get my mam to give me a crash corse before baby gets here haha ... Not a big fan of sawing and stuff bores me badley and hate reading ... Im the sort of girl who loves shopping and eatting out think i may have to spend the next 6 month doing that lol its my only option

you should pick a very unique theme for the nursey ( like antique or something) then spend the entire time until the baby comes looking for really cool specific things that you cant find at just any regular store...

You could pick up a hobby, like building birdhouses or boats or something constructive. Or I could send you my 21 month old...she's really great at keeping boredom away lol! Maybe you could pick up a new job, maybe something part-time answering phones, etc. nothing that involves really stressing you out. Good luck, I'm sure you'll find something to do.
