I wondered whether this is pretty normal. My little boy has just turn 16 months and he attempt so many words. He knows how to say about 50 words and we can kind of have a conversation, for example he can tell me he's hungry and thirsty or maybe he wants to watch a tv program or has gone 'poopoo' in his nappy lol! When i take his nappy off he even says 'poooorrrr' like its smelly :haha:

He can say he wants to read his book or for me to sing to him, and when i ask him questions like shall we put your clothes on, he says 'yeah' and then will go and get his clothes/shoes. This morning i went in his room to get him up for the day, he looked at me and said 'shhhh, sleep' and put his head back down. He says his name and when he has his milk he gives some to his paddington teddy and will say 'Pad milk, then when its his turn he says his name and drinks his milk.

He will pretty much attempt nearly every word i ask him to, so this morning i said to him, LO, this is batman...he then said Bahmah. :haha:
He is like a little sponge! He points to all the photos around the house and knows about 10-15 different peoples names!

He's my first baby so this might just be totally the norm but he amazes me every day.

It's at the high end of normal, but yes, it's normal! My DD was an early talker too and now at almost 22 months talks in full sentences (eg "I see a fishie in there. Do you see it too, Mummy?").

I just think it's so amazing isn't it. I didn't expect it so soon, I'm loving it, seeing his character and brung able to communicate with him.

Brilliant! I would say he is pretty advanced. The health visitor was shocked at how well mine spoke. at 16 months they said about 10 clear words each. By 20 months they had a vocabulary of over 300 clear words and stringing 3-4 words together and by 24 months could hold short conversations, using the beginnings of correct tense and all the his, her, he, she, yours, mine etc. Basically they spoke in full sentences minus the connectives. They did not absolutely always talk like that, they still frequently just shouted out 2 word, it depended on if they were distracted they were with an activity or if over tired.

How lovely to have 2 little ones talking! Im so looking forward to watching him learn new words and be able to form proper sentences.

Sounds like he is doing fab!

My youngest is 16 months and talks up a storm. Wouldnt have a clue how many words she has, she just says everything!
She is starting to put words together now "night night Ella" or "up chute again" etc and can count to 10. Both of my youngest girls have been ridiculously early talkers. My now 2.5yr old speaks amazingly and her nursery workers are always commenting on it.
