Sounds like the hospital did it wrong?

Thing with the conversion chart in the hospital is that they are approximate. I only know kg and its hard for me to understand pounds and oz's so I asked the mw. Hannah was 3.53 kg and was converted to 7pnd 13oz but it certanly didnt work out when converted it myself. Hope it made sense as it is really confusin xx

Would be good to know alright. My mw showed me the chart they had all conversions on it and they just picked the closest I think although your Lo weight was wayyyy out of what it should've been. Maybe they were tired  reallllyyyy tired

No they were right. I have just looked on the baby conversion chart in my maternity notes which the midwives use and it says: 8lb 14oz = 4.026kg and 9lb 0oz = 4.082kg, so I would say 4.04kg = 8lb 14.5oz. Hope this helps. xx

In your baby book that you take LO to get weighed with there should be a chart in there :) x

okay so i was looking through my labour notes with OH today and he goes 'oh so Harriet was 4.04kg born then' he only knew her weight in lb's.

Well when she was born she was weighed at 8lb 14.5oz, but when i converted this 4.04kg it came out as 8lb 9oz :dohh:

im confused! can anyone help me understand this, have i done it completely wrong or did the hospital do it wrong??

someone explain to me please haha!!

x
There are 16oz in a pound. Approx. conversion rate is 0.454 kg to a pound.

So 8lb + (14.5/16) = 8.9lbs (with the .9 being the 14.5oz's expressed as a decimal).
Therefore: 8.9 x 0.454 = 4.0406Kg

How's that?:yipee:
