17 week belly

Hi all,

I'm new here, but I've been reading some of the posts on here for the past couple of days. I'm freshly 16 and I am expecting my first in May.. I was wondering, do I look small for 17 weeks? I mean, I know everyone is different, but at my first appointment when I was 10-11 weeks, the doctor I had at the time gave me the hardest time about how small I was measuring for being 10-11 weeks, but I know when I conceived. So I switched doctors, and I have my first appointment with them tomorrow..so we will see what they say.

It would be so great to meet some other teen mothers! The only person who has a feeling of what I am going through is the Father of my child, but we're separated and blah blah all that jazz. Looking forward to making some new buddies and meeting you all!

No I wouldn't say you look small for 17 weeks. I wasn't even really showing at 17 weeks! lol See how you go tomorrow, but most people don't even start showing until they are 20 weeks or more so it is odd that you were given a hard time for measuring small at 10 weeks! Did they mean that your uterus was small or hard to feel so they thought you had your dates wrong? What did your dating scan say? x

Nah hun, i'm about the same size as you! I think i'm only small though, but we have time, don't worry! we've got all of the 3rd tri to catch up.
Welcome to BnB I'm Laura, 15, and also due in May. I'm a little further a long than you though. And sorry to hear about your doctor! they can be such a pain at times, but glad you changed.

No way, I wasn't showing much in the first half of my pregnancy at all.

20 weeks I had a bit of a bump, I'm now 26 and I expected myself to be a bit bigger by now, but I'm happy with my size I guess. Nothing's come up as unusual yet for me

Whereabouts are you from? I know around here they dont even measure you until around 22/24 weeks, odd for them to be doing it as early as 10/11 ive never heard of that before.

Have you had any scans?

All they did when I was that far along was just to see if they could even feel my uterus above my pubic bone yet cause at 10 weeks its unlikely that they can feel it.... or do you mean they said that your scan was small... cause scans arent ever really wrong hun.

Not at all. I was about the same if not smaller when I was 17 weeks!
I'm 17 now, I think its something with our younger bodies & just being tinier in general. No sweat

I posted the other day about not having a bump. Everyones different and if its your first you'll be showing later than if you've been pregnant before. Don't stress x

measuring at 10 weeks??? That seems a little silly, I think your doc needs to go back to doctor school lol! Any tummy I had at 10 weeks was just pure bloat. Where I live they only start measuring you at 25 weeks +

I dont think you look small at all... I wasnt even showing until i was about 20 weeks.. I still think im small for 22 weeks, but i went to the doctor and she said everything was fine...

thats not small its cute!! i didn't start showing until about 22 weeks and im nice and normal ... well ... so dont worry be proud of your ickle fwump i got sooo jealous until mine started to say hello ...

You shouldn't be geting measured that early on anyway :\ Just o give you a comparison this was me at 17 weeks.

i was pg w/dd at 18. didn't tell my parents till the 5th month, and nobody even noticed i had gained any weight! it was like i just woke up one day, and there it was... a huge belly. so don't worry, hon, i think you're fine.
