We have been trying for 18mths now and just had the husbands semen analysis back which was all good which after a vasectomy reversal I was so pleased to hear.
Now the GP won't test me because my BMI is too high, I have reduced it by 10 so far but a long way until I am 'healthy'. I am hoping it is just a weight issue for me but has anyone in the UK paid for tests, what kind of figures would I be looking at?

I had a private consultation appointment at Spire in Bristol. We had already done tests on the NHS (blood tests, a scan and SA), but if we hadn't, that would have been included with the consultancy appointment too. My consultant looked at the results so far and asked me more about my history and family history, then did a scan where she diagnosed me with PCOS. She prescribed Clomid, which did the trick, so luckily we didn't need anything more invasive. That appointment was £250. It was frustrating though because my NHS GP also thought I had PCOS but all she could do was give me Metformin.

The only thing I regret is not going private sooner!

Thanks Fezzle, I am not too far from Bristol so that is good to know.
I am trying to be positive in that I am just overweight and that is all the problem is. My periods are always regular and OPK's show as ovulating but guess that is just burying my head! Unfortunately as the recent doctor we saw mentioned that the NHS is under so much strain that they have to make cuts somewhere.

Mr Akande (sp?) is the main consultant and I think changed a little more, but we ended up seeing a woman called Alex Price who has been amazing- if you end up going to Spire Bristol. Good luck- I hope you're able to find something that will help!
