This morning, while getting ready for work, I noticed some light brown spotting. At first I thought it was just my eyes (or maybe really dark urine), but a few more swipes on the tp confirmed - indeed it was brown spotting.

Of course, I went into panic mode! DH and I haven't been intimate in well over a week, and I haven't done anything strenuous so couldn't imagine a reason for the spotting.

DH and I drove straight to my MW office to wait 15-min for them to open. It took all my strength hold back the tears and explain to reception why I was there. Thank goodness the office was so accommodating - they got in with an u/s and to see my MW right away.

I'm happy to report all with BB looked perfect! HB was 142 and measurements were spot on. Placenta and cervix also looked good. Really, there was no explanation for the old blood/spotting. I was put on pelvic rest and told that I really only need to worry should the blood turn red.

So here I am...at work...feeling better that all looks good with my BB, but still nervous about this spotting! There's got to be a reason, right?

Anyone else been through this or can offer any advice?

i don't have any answers but just wanted to say i'm glad that everything is ok!!

I have had some random streaking, red spotting, and one very small clot with no bleeding over the last several weeks. It was working on every two weeks. I have had two extra ultrasounds and everything looks good there. No explaination for the bleeding. The midwife we saw on Friday said that the uterus is really easy to irritate and it could be from something as simple as walking up stairs so don't really know. Baby is fine though and we have good regular movement and heartbeats.

Hope that helps.

I was totally thinking the same! The little bugger! First thing I'm going to say to my son is, "You don't know how much you've worried your mother!" :hugs:

Kosh - Thank you! :hugs:

ciarhwyfar - Thanks for sharing! I'm honestly just totally at a loss as to what could cause the spotting! I almost feel afraid to move! I REALLY hope this passes soon. I feel on edge.

Please don't worry i know its easier said than done though. I had the same thing, I bled from 18 wks to 22 weeks, always brown blood. First time was told to take it easy then continued, inend went to maternity assessment suite 3 times, as my 20 wk scan went well said it must be my cervix and to worry if blood turned red I was really worried especially as evefy time i saw a doc or mw they asked about movement and i had not yet felt any prob due to my placenta being at front. On the last assessment the doc found a lump of dead tissue near my cervix and thought it was a polyp that had come away and that may have been the cause of the bleed. It all stopped a week or so later so probably was! I have spoken to other women who have experienced brown bleeds with no apparent explanation and also had healthy pregnancies. Hope this helps a little and hope it goes away soon!

Thank you, hope4bubba!

I am happy to report that the spotting has seemed to stop. As of this morning, I don't notice anything on the tp when going to the bathroom, so I take that as a positive!

What a scare, I tell you!

Good to hear it. Such a worry aren't they, little monkeys :) x

Update: Spotting only lasted one day! Thank goodnesss! All seems back to normal now!

I just went thru a horrifying bleed. My doc says when it is spotting (which mine isnt) that it takes a while for the blood to reach the tp..in other words it trickles down from the cervix so although it was a week and a hlalf from sex it is likely from that. Clue is because it was brown.
