1st Dr. Appointment tomorrow..nervous :/

So I go for my first appointment tomorrow..I'm quite worried about it!!! I'm around 20 weeks pregnant they believe...I know I should have seen a Dr by now but long story short I didnt think I was preg cause I had no symptoms for the whole duration so far and finally took a test a few weeks ago and it was positive. Anyways...can somebody give me some advice on what to expect/how to prepare for this? I'm freaking out about how it will go..worrying the baby is unhealthy because of how far along I am..and I've never seen an OB/GYN before and I feel very uncomfortable about having a pap smear, etc...will they do that while I'm there? I've never had one...it seems like it will be so awkward and horrible. :/ Some reassurance would be nice..if anyone could give me some input on how to handle all this...

I was about 20 weeks when I first went to the DR with my first (many years ago) at 16yr old. I was VERY nervous. MY doctor was nice but gave me a stearn talking too. ALOT will happen that first appointment, just know they are doing what they need to take care of you and baby....Good Luck

I got my first Ultrasound (neat-o) and Pap Smear(ugh) took tons of blood, measured me, peed in a cup and talked with the doctor.

They will give you blood work, most likely an ultrasound to pinpoint your exact gestation, probably a pap and an internal to check your cervix, belly measurements. I think that Gould be it. As for the pap/internal, try not to be nervous Hun. They aren't there to hurt you in anyway, but a speculum can be a little uncomfortable. Let us know

Thanks to both of you! I'm trying not to think of the negatives of going..and just keep concentrating on its a postive thing, and its beneficial for my health/the babies health. As uncomfortable at points as its probably going to be lol.

I had the same thing happen to me. They did tons of blood, an ultrasound, a pap smear, heartbeat, and measured my belly. Good luck and congrats!

I went to my first at around 16 weeks.
Expect them to put their fingers in your vajay

I just got my 1st pap smear the other day at 26 weeks!
Not painful but incredibly uncomfy.
Also I had to fart so I had to clench and it was awkward! Lol sorry tmi -.-

Ahh appointment is in less than 2 hours! Trying not to stress...but I tend to get reallyyyy tense at Drs appointments..so i'm afraid the pap smear and what not is gonna be painful..cause even sometimes when my OH touches down there and i'm feeling tense it can hurt(i know tmi lol) Well i'll update everyone later on how it went..fingers crossed everything goes smoothly, and baby is healthy. I feel healthy and fine, so i'm hoping there is no problems.

So I'm back from the appointment! going for the ultra sound tomorrow morning. Got to hear the baby's heartbeat, she said it sounded good. By measuring me she thinks I'm around 20-23 weeks will find out for sure tomorrow. The Pap test wasn't as bad as expected..uncomfortable but not painful...however I am bleeding and cramping slightly from it..she's aid this is normal. Still freaks me out a bit though..anyone else have bleeding after????

I did...especially my first...and the first after child birth. They scrap your cervix which causes bleeding and cramping for a few hours....

Looking forward to the scan results tomorrow...are you going to be able to find out the sex tomorrow also?

Most likely they said they were guessing I'm around 20 ish weeks so hopefully they will be able to tell the gender. I'm excited to find out kinda hoping for a girl but won't be disappointed if it is a boy. I'll post the scan results tomorrow!

Went for my sonogram today!!!! Such a wonderful experience. They had a huge tv on the wall for me to look at everything she was doing..baby has a healthy heartbeat, skull, spine, fluid. I'm so relieved and thankful!! She also said the baby was very active and busy lol it was hard for her to even get good pictures! And my due date is around May 10th give or take a week she said and by the measurements looked like about 22 weeks along.
