General chatter while we wait (and commentary on the "pull out method")

Also sorry I’ve been absent. There’s been a lot of family turmoil following the election. The extreme hate I’ve been receiving from family and friends for voting for the candidate that the majority of Americans also voted for, has been crazy. My mom told me she failed me. That was absolutely devastating. Multiple family members said terrible things, including calling me a Nazi. It’s been really painful. DH is furious at them because he feels protective of me of course. It’s all really unfortunate.

Wow that's absolutely insane. So sorry.. I have some relatives who were like that about the covid stuff.. totally unhinged

:hugs: shae I'm so sorry. The amount of division in this country is disheartening. I wish people would just understand/tolerate people's differing opinions and respect each other as fellow humans without resorting to insults. I think that's part of a very huge issue -- people can't talk anymore, nor can they listen. Once they've formed an opinion it takes a lot to change, or even be open to a different opinion.

Oh boy I'm like 6 or 7 dpo but I had a bad cold and headache and now I have a crazy rash all over my body for the last two days and I'm really worried it could be fifths disease, so if I do get pregnant that would be kind of scary. My kids didn't have the rash on their trunks or limbs but they did have red cheeks. Ugh

@shaescott i’ll pm you, DH and I hold the same position in our family and it’s been really hard in the past. It’s gotten better in some ways but it breaks my heart cause I’d never ever attack any one of them for not agreeing with us on anything social/political, while we sit quietly at family dinners and get togethers and listen to lots of spewing hatred (in the name of acceptance, it’s so confusing).

Maybe I’ll join in here too, it’s lonely in other threads!

Saying hi to everyone! <3

Yay! Happy you’re joining @MrsKatie!

Sorry to hear about sickness @autumnal. I hope you feel better soon.

My little girl just started running 1 week after turning 1 yr old. Ahhh!!! She was enthralled by her big brother running around with older kids after church. That’s exciting & cute to watch.

Tax cuts for the richest bracket but not the people who need tax break aka low income.
Deportation that would cost far more than the amount illegal immigrants actually stimulate our economy.
Increased oil drilling in protected lands.
Children born and raised in this country denied citizenship.
Allowing states to ban abortions.
Abandoning Ukraine’s aid and allyship.
Palestine doesn’t deserve its freedom.
Failed attempt to cut affordable healthcare.

Human rights don’t matter. The environment doesn’t matter. I’m so sick of people getting voted into offices just because of whatever party affiliation or lies they spew.

I didn’t vote for a presidential candidate. They all sucked. And everyone can vote or believe what they want but it doesn’t leave them free from the consequences. I don’t think the world will go to s* under any candidate. But omg if you saw the panic and heartbreak and depressions at my workplace from students to staff: immigrants, women, minorities. We are so tired of people just not giving a f*.

Some people should not have power. Period. The people who should rarely ever do.

Dobs, I’m not going to argue politics, I’ve had far too much of that from my family already, and it’s been really overwhelming. I just wanted to share that there’s been a lot of drama lately in my family. I apologize if I upset you in doing so.

@HalfricanMa congratulations on your little girl walking!! That sounds too adorable for words!!

I'm either 7dpo or 8 dpo now, so still too early but I did a test anyway.. because why not.. I know I am safely among other crazy people. Hahahah. I couldn't see anything but it did get a squinty evap when I looked at it an hour later. I hope it means something! I haven't had a lot of symptoms this time though..

That sounds hopeful for becoming your bfp. Keep us posted!
And my girl started walking at 11 months which is why the running at 12 months feels crazy & exciting! My son being the first born was nonchalant about walking. Actually he bear crawled so efficiently that he would lose patience to walk and do his speedy bear crawl. Anyways, my daughter now running is great because she’s 25 pounds and above 99th percentile on height so she’s a beast to carry around all day!! Just thought I’d share some cute positivity because there’s plenty of stress or disappointments in life.
I got burned bad by my tests this month. This was my second clearblue. More of the line appeared than my first one but it’s a garbage line and not within time.

I’m so sorry for anyone going through family or work division. I wish there was a win for all in every country for everything. My view is that we all walk a different life with individual experiences that makes things important to us. Other people can’t always understand what I’ve been through or what worries me and I don’t always understand theirs. I could never cut people or judge people because they have different views from me. I try to be kind, love everyone, and put myself in their shoes….that’s the empath in me. A long time ago I decided that no matter who is in charge, it’s everyday people making the real difference.

@autumnal- I hope you are all feeling better!!! Keep us updated on testing! You know there’s no judgment for crazy testing here.

@MrsKatie - Welcome!!!

@HalfricanMa- I love when they start walking! It’s the cutest!! I’m sorry about the annoying tests again. Hoping you get your bfp soon!!!

AFM- I had my intake appt today. It took almost 3 hours! Since I’m new they had to do more things. I was not up to date with my pap and agreed…then quickly wished I had waited. I forgot it hurts and I spotted after. We did find baby on the doppler though! It took a bit, but it was reassuring to hear. I’ve been so tired. It’s been cold and gets dark early so my kids are all wound up in the house. They argue because they’re all up in each others spaces, but refuse to spread out. Does anyone else have kids who hate hanging out in their rooms? Lol I remember I loved being in my room doing my own thing.

Jules how far along are you?

I find it fascinating that there’s such a variety of experiences with things like Pap smears and IUD insertions. For me, a Pap smear doesn’t hurt at all, I really don’t even feel it, and getting an IUD in hurt, but I was able to hold still and grimace my way through it. I figure I can handle most pain for just a few minutes. Once it was actually in, I just had period-like cramps. On the other hand, I know a girl who was vomiting from the pain, and I’ve heard people say they want sedation for it. I have heard that it can be partly to do with the provider’s technique and how they grab the cervix, but of course there’s also individual pain tolerances/perceptions. I pray that my experience of getting the IUD placed is indicative of my ability to deal with childbirth hahaha but with my luck it’ll be the inverse.

@shaescott I’m 10 weeks. Apparently I have an extremely sensitive cervix this pregnancy. It’s not comfortable, but hurt a little more this time. The swab is what irritated it the most. Usually I have no issues with this stuff.

I’ve heard some women find it to be excruciating, I feel so bad for them. I’m sorry your cervix is being sensitive :(

Congrats on having your first appointment Jules. I guess they didn't do an ultrasound yet?

You are so right about the winter struggles. My 8 y/o boy and 5 y/o girl have a very intense sibling rivalry and it's a lot. At least they go to bed on time in the winter
