So girls, I know this question is asked every so often, but I can't seem to find any of the threads so I thought I'd just ask again as I know there have been a few F.S appointments lately.....

Anyway, I have an appointment to see a consultant next week ( I have his/her name and I will not leave without seeing them lol) and wondering what to ask or what to expect?? I know many of u have coming away being les sthan happy with your appointments.

I have very irregular / non-existant af after coming off bcp and hubby's S.A wasn't great. Thanks girls, Im all excited that Im actually getting somewhere :happydance:

good luck for next week hun.

I met Dr McFaul at the RFC and he isn't too bad, although I had all my tests done in Dundonald. I also met Dr Gillian Williamson in Origin although she works in the RFC as well and she is really nice. My friend has met Prof McClure and he by all accounts is very nice too.

At Dundonald I didn't get to meet the fertility specialist but it turns out he was recovering from a knee operation anyway, so if you don't see the person named on your letter don't panic. I think the RFC is different though, whoever is named on your letter is meant to be in attendance.

At my first FS appointment, all that was done was a medical history, an internal US scan, a chlamydia swab was taken, and my BMI was recorded. I then signed paperwork stating I would abstain from :sex: after my next AF until after my HSG was done. I take it your GP has done CD21 bloods for you.

Good luck for next week - let me know how it goes...

xx

BTW - if reception give you paperwork to complete, make sure you take it straight back to them. We were given our forms by a member of staff covering lunch breaks, and were told to keep hold of it until we were called for our appointment, but we weren't called for our appointment cos they didn't have our completed forms ...

Thanks Maz. I'm going to see Prof. McClure in RFC so I'm glad now I've heard that he's nice. And I haven't had CD 21 tests, but I think that's because I wouldn't even have ov'd by then - my cycles are so irratic that I could wait 4 months to ov!! I cannot predict it at all - but hopefully this nice doctor will help me out with that.

Im not expecting too much to be honest, just an info gathering session and I'm preparing to be told to loose a few lbs!!! Will be very hard over Xmas!!

Hey Mrs R - good luck for your appt! We have our first FS appt on 20th November so fingers crossed we both get some answers... and maybe pointed in the right direction! :hugs:

My first FS appointment was mostly talking to the doctor about my medical history. The first blood test was done on CD3 to measure FSH, E2, Testosterone, Prolactin levels. My DH also made an appt for a SA. Good luck!

Hiya hun

I've just read your journal ... you mentioned that your DH may have some probs with his SA. My friend was referred to Prof McClure as he specialises in male factor and apparently lectures at Queen's about it. That may be why it seemed to take you ages getting your appointment through as his waiting lists seem to be a bit longer than the others. Fingers crossed for next week.

Oh that's great news!! I'm so pleased. Maz, ur a wealth of knowledge on these things! I don't know anybody going through the same thing as me and DH so i really appreciate all the info u give me.

DH seems impressed that the consultant might be able to help him out too x

Awh - I don't know everything you know. All I can tell you are my experiences and those of my friend. I really hope you have a good appointment next week and get started on the long and emotional road to your :bfp:

I know what it's like to not really know what to expect, so if I can reduce that stress for you then I'll gladly do it - besides, it takes my mind of my treatment for a while which is also great!!

xx

Oh good luck for appointment I have my first on 8th Decmber so let me know how it goes!

Sarah
