Hello, I have my 1st FS appointment coming up for my PCOS, can anyone give me some info on what might be expected ?
Thank you :)

hi there, when i had my fs appt i took my charts and some questions with me so i didnt forget... we talked about my cycles and history. the lady was very nice as im overwieght thats whats stopping the next stage for me so im on the gi diet... how was ur pcos diagnosed? i had scans but overies look fine but my bloods revealed i have it as my lh is higher than my fsh, plus i get extra hair growth...

good luck with ur fs appt....fx it wnt be long till u get ur sticky bean xxx

I had an ultra sound at 18 or 19 that reveled the cause of my irregular periods my ovaries are covered with little cysts. Back then they said don't worry its not a big deal, so Now that I'm ttc obviously it's a big deal :( so I called a FS because my regular obgyn is no good and doesn't answer my question so I need to get to a specialist!
I'm about 20 lbs over weight so I'm sure my weight issue will come up too
I have all my past FF charts which is only 3 and some questions ready too :)

Im sure ul be fine Hun I'm alot overweight so I have to lose 3 and half stone bfore I can have clomid. I'm now on metformin to see if it would help. Just mention that ur working on losing the extra pounds but it's hard then it saves them commenting and know ur trying ur hardest but I think they would try u on clomid . Let us know how u get on Hun il be thinking of u xx

Thank you :) I'm a little nervous about clomid because of the possible multiples issue but I was doing some research and realize that the risk of multiples is low on clomid I thought it would be much higher
I'm just looking forward to talking to someone who may be able to give me answers finally !
Thank u so much for ur help and info and talking with me !
Wish u all the luck ! And baby dust !

Hi when i went for my first appointment, they did swabs to check for infections etc, and then booked me into have a Lap & Dye to check the tubes werent blocked and that everything was ok!! Im overweight but they still did it. Everything was ok with the lap and dye so now theyve put me on metformin for 3 months. Hopefully this will help me to lose some pounds which if ive got my BMI below 35 they will put me on clomid!! so thats what happened with me!! Good luck for your appointment and i hope they get things moving along!! xx

Bumpyboo,
Do u have pcos too? I'm actually very nervous right now my appt on wendnesday I'm always affraid I might be doing the wrong thing :(
Thanks ladies

Hi, yeh i have pcos! I was ttc for over a year and nothing happened. Since the lap & dye last september I have had 3 pregnancies which ended in miscarriages. But i found it strange how i didnt get pregnant till after the lap&dye...so i think it did me some good and must of flushed the tubes out. I got pregnant the first time literally days after the lap&dye!! If only i could have one every month!lol as i think this is what has helped me!! Im still seeing the gynae now but not for infertility now its recurrent MC! Hope you get some answers soon xx

Good luck for Wednesday! Im sure you'll be fine.

I don't know how the process works in the States but here you'll most likely get Metformin to start with and the Dr will tell you to lose some weight or generally get fitter/healthier.

If that doesn't work after a couple of months they'll put you on Clomid. Well, that's what happend to me :flower:

Have they also checked all your hormones?

I live in the states and the question is more likely what didn't they do during my first appointment!

They did:

-pelvic examination
-wet tests to test for infections
-pap
-ultrasound to check for cysts
-blood work to check for progesterone and cholesterol levels

Then they scheduled me for another appointment to do even more bloodwork and to take a glucose test.

And then once they start you on Clomid you have to go back in for more ultrasounds and more bloodwork! :dohh:

Thank u for the run down :) I have all my ff charts which is only 2 and all past paps and bloodwork which includes glucose tolerance and progesterone and cholesterol blah blah blah so hopefully that may be enough atleast initially :)
My poor DH is afraid they will need a "sample" from him I said I doubt they would do the right away being the "issue" is already me I dunno tho lol he's nervous about that

I think it depends on your doctor. My doctor put me on Clomid and said if I wasn't PG by the end of three cycles that she'd schedule me for an HSG test and DH would need to do a sperm analysis test.

I know there are some people whose doctor did the opposite, they did the HSG test and the sperm analysis BEFORE starting Clomid.

Thank u, well guess we will just see tomorrow at 2:30 ;) thank u again !

My partner had to do a sperm test...he too was very worried about it but they give you a little pot to do it at home and then we had to get it to the hospital within an hour!

O good that I think would be so much better and less stressful on a man :) thank u !

yeh, i think thats all men worry about nevermind us having to have operations etc!!
