Hi ladies on the 4th March me and my DH have our first appt with the fertility clinic and I was wondering if any of you knew what might happen at this appt. We have been ttc since April 2011 and i have had blood tests to confirm O and i do. DH has had a SA and that came back normal. We did get a bfp in November 2012 unfortunately I mc at 6 weeks. Even though we have started ttc again for the last 2 months i am still recovering emotionally from my mc. I am anxious about the appt. However i am now nearly 32 and can hear the clock ticking. If there is a reason why it took us 19 months to conceive and maybe a reason why i mc i would like to know sooner rather than later. Any advice or help is much appreciated?

It was a long time ago that I had my first fertility appointment but I remember it being very long, and they made me sit and wait in an area with lots of pregnant women which didn't make me feel great! But I think they did lots of form filling, asking about general health and going through the SA and blood test results of me and my husband. They then sent me in for an internal ultrasound to check my ovaries which were fine.

I can't really remember much else but it did seem to be quite a long appointment and we discussed what options were next. They didn't put me onto the IVF register at that point as they wanted me to have an HSG to check my tubes weren't blocked and then they wanted to check for endometriosis with a lap and dye. All were fine with me. We got out BFP in October 2011 after 3.5 years of trying and we were due to start all the IVF process in the December/January.

You may be similar to us. Might just take you a bit longer to fall pregnant than others. I had a MMC back in 2008 and - as annoying as it is to say - I do think it was just one of those things because I sailed through my pregnancy with my son. I'm now pregnant again and this one took 1 month of properly trying, my son is only 7 months! So perhaps having one baby fixed us.

I'm sure you'll get your BFP soon, and good luck at your appointment x

Thank you for the reply. Good luck with baby number 2!

it was while ago for us too but I remember geting BP taken, weighed. Then discussion with doctor about our previous test results done by GP. I was then given and internal ultrasound scan of my ovaries. Then I was referred for an HSG. We were classed as unexplained infertility.

It eventually took us 2.5 years concieve (naturally!! the month before we were due to have private IVF) All the best hope you get you BFP soon

Hi just wanted to wish you best of luck with ur appointment. We had our first appointment last January. There was a lot of medical questions and family history questions, I had a smear type thing done to rule out infections/ swabs taken. From there I was booked in for a hsg test, I then waited 4 weeks for that. From the results of that I had a laparoscopy in march as both my tubes were serverly blocked. They partially unblocked one Tube and I had a bfp in may, sadly mc at 6 weeks. However I'm now 22 weeks pregnant and everything is going brilliantly.i like you had already had bloods and my husband had had seman test before our first appointment. Again good luck with ur appointment and don't give up hope, think of it as a fresh start on ur journey x

Thank you ladies for your kind words and support. Im trying hard to stay positive but its so difficult at times. I know when i finally get a baby in my arms then they will be worth the wait and heartache.

Try and stay positive : )
Try to think as a new journey.
My first appointment was all about weight, gynae apts, height, bmi, bloods, scans, diagnosed with Pcos 09 lap.
Been on metformin for 2yrs, hot Hsg next mth.
I understand your longing for baby in your arms, its what I feel I'm meant to do is be a mum..
It is hard, its hard to stay positive..
But all the testing is help towards providing them with a full understanding of u, and how to help u ... : )
Try bit to worry and good luck : )
